What are your thoughts on this play - 3/6 NL heads up

This is from a live game, about 5 hands in. Cash game, not a tournament.

Dealer($94) calls BB (8d 4h)
BB ($106) checks
---
Flop - Kc 6h 7d
BB bets 6
Dealer calls
--
Turn - 5s
BB checks
Dealer checks
--
River - 4c
BB bets 12
Dealer raises All-in
BB calls & shows (8h 9c)

bad. really bad. if the money had gone in on the turn it would have been fine and a cooler, but the river shove was pointless: dealer was not getting called by worse unless BB is super super loose.

also river shove was not the only misplay in the hand calling flop was probably okay with the combo of draw and later bluff potential, but not betting the turn was criminal: betting the turn would have made the straight look alot more like a steal and actually built a pot.

preflop was terrible also. limping unplayable junk 5 hands in is just bad HU play.

do you think that raising preflop and betting the turn would have ended this hand any differently?

Playing live heads up is stupid. Its slow, boring and the rake is going to kill you.

Playing live heads up with 15BBs is stupider

Not betting that turn is stupidest

PS...fold preflop.

yeah good point wtf is with stack sizes. and no hand wouldnt have gone differently this time if you had raised, but that is results oriented. i was really saying you should have folded pre rather than raised though (hence me referring to the hand as unplayable junk).

Let me just add that there was no rake in this game and the two opponents have played heads up many times in the past. The number of chips in relation to blinds was mainly due to wanting to get the game over with relatively quickly.

I wonder how the analysis would change if there was no mention of what the other player had in his hand.

I understand why it's a bad play to go all in on the river because only a hand that can beat you is going to call basically. What are the chances of that hand being out against you? What does this move set up for later on? How does it look when you check/call all the way then go all in? Doesn't this hand look like a bluff that may actually get a weaker hand to call?

Just wondering if any outside the box thinkers can see some merit in the play in regards to an ongoing series of heads up matches between the two opponents?
