Are poker videos useful?

There seem to be a zillion of them of PXF and I have joined Cardrunners too. Started going through the ones by Bax.

Seems like you could spend a lot of time watching these. Now I am willing to spend a lot of time learning, since I made enough in one day for the year, and don't have to grind it out every day. However, I was wondering if it is worthwhile.

When I started playing MTTs, the only useful material was TPFAP, the NLHE chapeter in SS, and this board and some other similar online stuff. Now there is so much more material.

Also, which videos do people reccomend as the best for tourament players?

I found them very useful when learning resteal stacksizes, final table strategies, ect... Since then, I have found them most useful in settling my play down if/when I go on a semi-prolonged tilt. I think they can be good for spotting leaks in your game, but you'll probably need to do additional homework to fix them.

As for specific videos, most people find JBax's pretty helpful (plus he makes it entertaining). Besides that, I would check out BelowAbove's videos, and apestyles' million video. Also, Rizen (despite being a more cash game player) has put out some MTT's with excellent commentary.

Edit: Oh, and make sure to at least check out some of the "live recorded" videos. Rizen did a 4-part one titled "MTT-R: Live Play". Live videos have a different feel than the hand-replayer ones, and you'd be missing a lot if you stipped them entirely.

What did you win for the uninformed amongst us?

I think some instructional videos are very good (I like Sheets and Rizens ones) but I don't think I learn a lot from most. I learn most from reviewing peoples hand histories and looking at what i'd do differently and seeing what's better
