The Cedar Park and Whirpool on rte 2 is very good too.

I think I'm going with this place. We'll have our dog with us and the Bellissimo doesn't allow dogs. Looks like Cedar Park has a limo service back and forth too.

I noticed on the Foxwoods website that the 12pm tourney on 11/23 is cancelled. Anyone know why? Is there something else going on that day? I would have wanted to play in that. Don't think we'll make our escape from the in-laws in time to make the 10am tourney.

I'd go onto Priceline, and try 'naming my own price'. Personally, I'll stay as far away as Mystic -- but that may be too far for many.

Re: Places to stay close to Foxwoods?

Last fall during the WPT event, I'm playing cash games and am staying at the Hilltop. I run into a player from a game I play at who needs a bed for the night, so I let him crash on the second bed (I had a room with 2 beds). I leave the casino early-ish, around 1am, to get some sleep, he comes in around 2. I've got earplugs in since I'm a light sleeper. I've got $20k in cash in my jeans on the floor because the safe doesn't work (they've never worked in any room in that hotel that I've seen). I'm fast asleep for a couple of hours, but am suddenly jolted awake. Clock say 4am, and the room door is open with someone in the doorway, walking into the room. My buddy also bolts awake and starts yelling (although I can't hear well because I haven't yanked the earplugs yet). Man in doorway splits, and door closes. I ask my buddy if he locked the door, and he swears that he did. I call down to the front desk to tell them about an attempted robbery, and after some confusion, I get the story that they'd accidently assigned my room to the mystery man, and given him a passcard (the door locks are electronic). Not sure if I buy it, but I won't stay there again. How the heck is that possible on an electronic registration system?

I think they usually cancel the tournaments on holidays due to the crowds. Unless you are willing to wait two or three hours for a seat, you need to ditch the in-laws early.
