HIV FREE: First Magic Johnson, now Heavyweight Tommy Morrison

Just as the title says.

Remember him from Rocky V?

I'm starting to wonder if there is something special in celebrity blood. One thing I'm dying to know is how much sexing these allstars do after they come back with negative blood tests. How many HIV free women would go for the post-HIV celebrity D? Even more, how many of you would hit your favorite female celebrity if she was post-HIV? And would you bareback it?

From the ESPN article you linked:

[ QUOTE ]
How could Tommy Morrison test positive for HIV in 1996 and pass a blood test now?

Medicine may have suppressed the virus to undetectable levels. Dr. Jeff Kirchner of the American Academy of HIV Medicine said the virus never goes away, but that drugs can put a patient in remission. "You can live a very healthy, very long life with this disease," Kirchner said.

"[But] you're positive for the rest of your life, even if you're going very well and are in remission."

Ugh...... thats what I get for reading newsfeeds and not entire articles. :-p

Ok, this is going to get technical. I haven't studied the HIV in a couple of years so maybe my knowledge is out of date. There are people who have passed extremely sensitive PCR and liver tests. Last I heard that was a pretty surefire sign that they were basically HIV free. I'd like to know what percentage of those people end up having a recurrence of HIV but I've heard of people actually going off of the medication and being fine. There is a risk of course, but those tests are super sensitive. So your risks are extremely low. And I wonder how much of that doctors statement was a "please don't sue me" statement. There are massive liability risks in saying anything but what she just said. I dunno, maybe I am misinformed. Still, it would be interesting to see how much sexing those celebrities do now.

heh, whatever. It's friday and time for me to open up some tecante.

Just for clarification.

Hell yeah. The risk of getting HIV from vaginal sex with an an infected person is only 1/200. The infection rate for sex with a cured person must be really really low.

It's much lower than 1/200, I've read as low as 1/8,000 for female to male. Some studies have put male to female at 1/1,000. If you live in the United States, ignore any statistics that come from Africa.

Yes, I actually meant 1/2000

isnt it higher if youre not circumcised?

i would think size of both would matter. for instance, if you have a monster dong (or a smaller vag) would you be more at risk? due to tearing etc.

and skin type too, some ppl bleed easier in general.

While it is pretty indisputable that getting HIV from vaginal sex is not particularly likely if you are a male, in my mind the discussion is pretty moot for me personally because I would never take the chance if I knew my partner had HIV.

All circumcision studies that I've read were studying Africans, and are thus irrelevant.
