Yeah, he was like that. He would try to joke around with guests sometimes or be cool or whatever, but he often seemed completely devoid of social skills and self awareness. It made for an uncomfortable combo.

Watch the interview with Charles Manson if you get the chance. He was very lucky to get it, and he wastes it almost entirely by spending all his time thinking he's going to cleverly get Manson to confess his guilt. Manson is looking at him like he can't believe what a moron he is. And Snyder just keeps on spinning his wheels, oblivious, looking even kind of smug as if he can't believe how clever he is, until the hour is up. Almost a complete waste of time except to show how startlingly dumb Synder could be.

Yep, Lydon was miserable and a terrible interview. And Snyder actually seems to get po'ed pretty fast in this train wreck interview for PIL.

yeah, the manson interview was pretty famous. Part of it is on youtube as well.

Just watched him on youtube with U2 on their first U.S. TV appearance. He called them "The U2" a couple times.

"startlingly dumb" is a reasonable description of how he could get at times although I might prefer the phrase "lovably ignorant."
