Advice on moving up to NL 100$
 

I have been grinding NL 50$ on PartyPoker for a while and been considering moving up to NL 100$. I have the bankroll for this level but I have heard that MANY pros play on this level just to make a living. Is it as hard as people say it is, and how is it diffrent to NL 50$


I apologize if this thread already exist, but when I searched I couldn't find anything.

You heard wrong. A pro with a 8 PTBB/100 who four tables averaging 250 hands per hour and plays 60 hours a week will make $62k a year if he never takes a vacation. I think the 'pros' are playing at much higher stakes.

If you are beating NL $50 then NL $100 will not give you any problems.

With pros I of course did not mean the pros that are making the BIG money. With "pros" I meant people with alot of experience/skill that just stayed at NL 100$ and doesnt bother to move up. And is just playing to make a stable extra income.

You mean like me [img]/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] I doubt there are many and if you have PT they should be easy enough to spot.

Just open up a table and start playing. It really is only the $50's with double the stacks. There isn't anything fancy or high level going on. Quit worrying, if you have the bankroll, just give it a shot. If you drop a few buy-ins right off the bat then move back down to the $50's.

8/100*$2*250*60*52=$124k

Were you using 8BB or 8PTBB? 60 hours a week of 4-tabling and I would HATE poker.

For someone who's single, and places more value in free time etc. than in money, $50k a year is a pretty decent income. And if you have no burning desire to play with the big boys, one could be quite comfortable playing NL100 forever. Right, AJ? [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

My biggest suggestion is that you play your own game. I have the tendency to try and "outplay" the players b/c somehow in my mind they are soooo much better than the $50 buy in ones. That's just not the case and most are still bad, but generally in a different way (weak-tight IMO).

Fancy play syndrome gets me into trouble, so trying to keep it relatively simple (but not entirely ABC) is good.
