Need Help! Pokersites are now chewing CPU like its going out of style

tl;dr version is that my laptop now runs really bad when I try and run pokersites and it never used to be this way. The details can be found in THIS POST IN THE MICROS

If you would be so kind as to take a look and post any comments and suggestions here. Im pretty desperate at this point because Ive just about exausted all the things I can think of (short of starting from scratch with reinstalling XP) so if you have any ideas Im all ears. In one of the last replies in the original thread KingOtter suggests looking for contention issues....how would I do that? what would I look for?
