the yellow FG thing they used in the Pats/Eagles game last night

does somebody have a screenshot of this? I didn't really understand what they were showing. am I alone here?

I saw this.

They said that the moment the outsides of the goal posts turn yellow (from blue or green?) is when the football passes the plane of the crossbar/posts. When they briefly showed it yesterday, it looked like the field goal was good.

That field goal view was just another piece of technology that needs to be implemented into the game to eliminate mistakes by officials.

sounded like the announcer didn't even know what it was. "we're told this will turn yellow..."

It would have hit the right crossbar, nobody knows how it would bounce of course, but I agree they definitely need to incorporate as much mistake free technology as possible.

The whole Refs are paid to make JUDGEMENT calls is stupid. I don't care about 1 refs POV, I want what actually happened.

Also, that FG should of never happened cuz the Offensive PI on Moss was such a bad call.

Subconscious haterade towards pats, all the more reason to get more technology less refs.

I remember hearing that they were going to raise the height of the uprights again. Anyone know anything about it?

if you looked at the yellow line on the left upright (looking from behind the field) it was showing way left of the actual upright

fwiw, it's very similar to baseball and what they're doing with the front plane of the plate to see whether it was a strike or not

It'd actually be pretty sweet if they added a height limit. It'd increase the variance (I'm guessing on shorter/midrange kicks especially) and encourage teams to go for it more.

I heard him say that if it turns yellow, then the field goal is no good. It was funny though that the overlay was not centered properly.

No this is another piece of shoddy gimmick technology brought to you by the same people who once tried to convert football pass speed to baseball MPH.

Anyone know why quaterbacks have green dots on the back of their helmets?

Why don't they extend the uprights as high as technology will allow?

It means that their helmet has the radio in it. The dot is so that officials can see that there is only one radio on the field.

That would make fly-overs interesting.

the green dot denotes which player has a headset in their helmet - each team gets one, and it's always the QB (for obvious reasons)

Put a bar across the tops of the upright. Must land in box to get field goal.

Put [censored] lazers through the plane of where the ball has to travel for it to be a field goal imo.

Nah. It shouldn't be your every day run of the mill lazers. This is the NFL man!!! It should be controlled by the Home side and be used to flash up pics of dicks or a picture of the kickers wife photoshopped into a porn scene or something just before the kick. You know just to try and put him off - if you allow kickers to be iced at least do it properly imo.

they can flash whatever they want, but there still have to be sharks. On this point there can be no negotiation.
