i'm bb w/ A8s.

FOUR LIMPERS (omg so many i haven't seen this many limpers since before online poker died) and then the SMALL BLIND CALLS. WOW FIVE. should i raise now or do you need reads and stuff?

i check because:

- position sucks
- sometimes A8s hits the board hard, but more often you hit something marginal (a pair of As with a marginal kicker or second pair) in a pot you've bloated, and did i mention you're oop?

Better position or a better hand. And by "better hand" I don't mean high pockets and suited broadways, I simply mean a hand that I'm going to be able to play confidently after the flop...87s might meet that criteria, fer instance. (I know you know that I know that you know this, but I put it in for benefit of the next nOOb that reads this thread and responds, "ZOMGBBQELEVEN!!!111!1 You raise 87s from the BB?!"

Unless the opponents are a level of gawdawful rarely seen outside the 2/4 table at Commerce......
