damn ace

1/2 live. Lag to my immediate right might be on tilt. I won a big pot against him with KK vs. his T5o when we got all-in on the flop and I rivered a Q to counterfeit his flopped bottom two pair.
Obviously he calls loosely preflop.

Other guy is a loose passive fish.
Their stacks are about $150-200, I cover

Hero has Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in early middle.
one limper UTG (woman who plays many hands and raises a lot of them to $6), LAG raises to $17, Hero reraises to $45.
Fish calls in the SB, UTG woman folds, LAG calls.

POT $135, 3 players
(remaining stacks about $100-150) SPR = 1
FLOP
A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
check, check, hero...?
Do I bet?
Am I committed?

Re: damn ace

Yuck. This really sucks. You're not committed yet, but betting will commit you.

I don't want to check because there could be a lot of draws out there. I don't want to bet because doing so would commit me when I REALLY don't want to be committed. Either guy could easily have A2o.

I'm going to go with a check. Try to get to showdown cheaply. I don't feel very good about it though. I might bet JJ or TT though. Ugh, sorry I can't be more help.

Commitment threshold when pot is ~1/4 of the remaining stack
ie money left is 4 x pot

or ~10% of your stack is in the pot

never put >1/3 of starting stack and fold

These are the guidelines by Flynn/Mehta/Miller

This hand reminds me of The Office episode last night.

Micheal is being interrogated and when his questioners show him has has said multiple conflicting statements he says "line". There is a long silence and they ask him "what"? And somebody says "line, like he is asking for the next line in a play".

Same here. At this point I'm saying. DO OVER! MULLIGAN!

I would check. So many future ways to lose this hand.

Checking will give you a better idea what your final hand will look like. The problem with QQ or any pocket pair is you will normally not improve. So once you play it you have to expect to win or lose with that QQ.

He check so I'm thinking he is worried. Checking is showing weakness but . . . . you are a little weak. Any ace or even one more diamond and you are deep do do.

Hands like this get me in trouble when I pretend I am strong.

I check because if you put any bet worth anything in the middlle and it gets called you are likely losing, and all things considered there isnt a lot to protect your hand from. There is a flush draw, but ill take my chances. I check to look weak, see what the turn card is and what happens. The ace is scary, but there are a ton of other hands these 2 fish could have, I'm by no means done with this hand, or scared to get my money in this pot. We have the best hand here alot.

Damn ace 2: da return

I will compare this to another hand which is multiway:

LAG (same as above) straddles to $4, I raise QQ to $20. 2 coldcallers, both blinds call (including woman from above hand), straddler calls.

Flop is A J 5 rainbow ($120 pot, 6 players)
checked around

Turn is 6.
Woman (in BB) bets $25 lag folds hero calls all others fold

OK?

River is a J (pot $170)
she bets 25, I call

Yah you're ok calling down here. Her bets are so small compared to the pot. I also like the flop check here for the same reasons alobar alobarated above.
