Notes for Stud

I was curious if anyone takes notes while they are playing stud, and if so, I was wondering what you write down?

Re: Notes for Stud

I write notes.

For razz I make notes about general 3rd and 4th st tendencies mostly

Razz
- calls or completes with paint face up (or in the hole, if I find out later)
- won't fold to 4th st bricks
- raises 5th or 6th in weird spots where unlikely to be ahead
- For really passive 3rd st players I try to note whether their raises are wheel hands, random 3-card-low hands, or bluffs/steals
- I make notes about individuals who seem to think that the current low hand is always ahead (i.e. he thinks his T9842 is necessarily better than my xx266)
- I make note of ANYONE I have caught bluffing on the river, particularly bluffs of the type... call call call call bluff-river

Stud/8
- I make notes of odd limps or raises, like people limping with 9-K up, etc
- I make notes of who will whipsaw with me, and who won't - this is double good because if a whipsawer won't co-operate then either he doesn't have a solid hand one way, or possibly I've read his hand the wrong way (hi instead of low, say)
- I make notes of who calls 7th in multiway pots with 1 pair
- I make notes of who bets low draws on 4th and who doesn't seem to

- For both games I make not of particular hands that were played very oddly.
- For both games I make notes of hands that I have played either unconventionally against them, or hands where I have called with hands that I probably should have folded.
- In general I try to make notes about how I would expect them to see me - this includes notes about chat comments they've made about or towards me.

I make lots of notes, constantly.

thanks, yeah I like to make notes too, but I think mine aren't that good and so I'm sort of trying to revise them right now.

I think I forgot to mention one of the most important notes - I make note of anyone that I feel is unbluffable.

It's hard to note if someone IS bluffable because when you bet and they fold, you might have had them beat.

By the way, allow me to pimp my hud a little more and note that you can use it to enter notes directly into pokertracker.

I find I use the word "sucks" a lot.

But seriously, [ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ] I use this one quite a bit and is probably one of the most important for saving fold-inducing bets or making otherwise thin value bets.

I write down people's starting hands if they play crap. Or note how aggressive/passive someone is; whether or not to respect someone's bets/raises, etc.

lol, was just reviewing my notes, some are kind of funny.
i usually just put something like bad player if they suckout on me or something

"calling station donk suck out on me need revenge"
"sob 3bet my ace with 229"
"donkyfish dont fold"
"need revenge on this suckout donkey"

Re: Notes for Stud

I note known 2+2ers. Some people are really easy to spot (like me). Others recognize me and make themselves known one way or another. This lets me know that this is a guy who is at least trying to play well.

Other than that, I rarely note people who play well. It takes a long time for me to conclude that someone is a good player. It often takes me one street to identify someone as a rube. I use terms like "donkey," "idiot," and "clueless" a lot. I also note the game, limit, and date. Someone who made a bad play in 2004 may have wised up in the interim.

True. Plus some people are fish at stud/8 but good at stud hi or whatever. That's proving a problem to me, when I see someone I've marked as red giving it away in stud/8, takes me a few to realize.

I mostly play live, and I know a number of people who play hold'em and/or high-only stud very well and are moderately clueless at stud/8.
