AK line check....

Villain runs at 21/14/2 over 195 hands. Only notes I have on him are that he got it all in with AK in a pot he 3bet pre and flopped a K. Not a stellar read.

Party Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.25/$0.50 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $43.18
BB: $11.50
UTG: $57.23
MP: $76.71
Hero (CO): $51.29
BTN: $75.15

Preflop: Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (6 Players)
UTG folds, MP calls $0.50, <font color="red">Hero raises to $2.50</font>, <font color="red">BTN raises to $8.00</font>, 3 folds, <font color="red">Hero raises to $20.00</font>, <font color="red">BTN raises all-in to $75.15</font>, Hero calls all-in for $31.29

Re: AK line check....

Is he going AI here with QQ? You really have to put him on a range here. If hes only pushing here with KK+, AK then this is a clear fold.

If we back it up a bit... I'm wondering if just calling the $8 and seeing a flop is better here. I really don't know.

Re: AK line check....

I know he 3bets AA-QQ, AK and AQ; and I'm pretty sure he'd push with AK

A lil help with the math?

31.29 to win 72.04
Do i just divide 72.04 into 31.29 to figure out what % of the pot i need to put in and compare that to my equity?
Poker stove says I have 39.594% pot equity and i need to invest 43.43% to win so this is an easy fold?

Hand 0: 39.594% 19.26% 20.33% 110831016 116968584.00 { AKs, AKo }
Hand 1: 60.406% 40.08% 20.33% 230565960 116968584.00 { QQ+, AKs, AKo }

If i have to fold to a push isn't my 4bet very foolish?

Re: AK line check....

14% pfr isn't out of line for 6-max, so he's not a maniac pre-flop. I like just calling the $8 reraise and seeing a flop before proceeding.

Re: AK line check....

so consensus is just call the 3bet and try to spike an A or K?

Re: AK line check....

Not that it really matters, but you stove'ed it a bit wrong. You don't have AKs so take it out of your range.
Hand 0: 38.824% 18.14% 20.68% 78295380 89232168.00 { AKo }
Hand 1: 61.176% 40.50% 20.68% 174740892 89232168.00 { QQ+, AKs, AKo }
Again... as it turns out it doesn't really matter.

I'm currently running 20/17 over ~10K hands at 6max and I'm never 5-betting here with QQ. So lets look at this again... with KK+, AK.
Hand 0: 37.057% 08.19% 28.87% 25243836 88972014.00 { AKo }
Hand 1: 62.943% 34.08% 28.87% 105026856 88972014.00 { KK+, AKs, AKo }
I'm actually kinda surprised that it doesnt make a whole lot of difference.

Upon thinking about this further... He shows us he really likes his hand with his 3-bet, so I think calling it and re-evaluating on the flop is best (like stickdude said).

EDIT: was writing this when previous post was posted. so yeah. I agree with ya'll

If I am 4betting this preflop I'd like to shove

Re: AK line check....

I'm never just calling this preflop, especially oop.
4bet shove this.
