TD penalty ruling, was this correct?

Cutoff moves all in, player in the BB asks for a count, out of turn. Player in the BB was given a penalty for acting out of turn. Mahem ensued.

Was the TD right or wrong in his ruling?

It seems to be a little on the unsportsmanlike side, but I've never heard of this kind of ruling before.

This seems horrible as the BB never actually acted.

What casino were you in?

You should repost in the B&M forum though as they have a lot of regulars there who have decades of experience in card rooms (where MTTc has mostly of 18-23 year olds who beat up on the old nits)

Cheers will do. For the record, this was event 1 of the Victorian Poker Championships at the Crown Casino in Melbourne.

Was his hand ruled dead?

That's just awful.

I'm a bit of a live n00b & don't quite know the ins & outs of what's appropriate.

Are you saying it's awful that he'd ask out of turn or the TD's decison was awful?

I'm so used to playing online & knowing exactly how many chips everyone has, I stuggle live sometimes to know much much to bet to make sure they're not committed, or *are* committed or whatever...

No I meant it would be awful if his hand was ruled dead.

I don't think they ever declare hands dead for stuff like this... not that this should have even been a penalty to begin with.

No, it was folded to BB, who called and won a race, after the hand he was told to sit out 10 hands for acting out of turn.
