What size bet were you expecting in a $22 pot?

I think you have to call here. The bet is a good bet, about 2/3 the size of the pot, so it's either a great value bet or a good bluff. It's very possible that the player is just trying to salvage his missed flush by betting the river, or he could have missed his flush draw but hit his ace high and think that is good too after your check.

By checking on the river you are asking the opponent to bluff in my opinion, but not much you can do out of position. If he hit his ace I'm paying him off here.

I fold but I am a nit. If you have a read about him him chasing flushes, or continuing with and overcard or overcards that would obviously help.

I usually fold here because the A gives him a lot of 2 pairs and top pair with a lot of his flush draws that he is now betting for value. This is a pretty good OP though compared to many of the hands posted.

I really can't find a fold here specially against a loose villain. He knows he wins pots by being agressive, so you have to call here. I think you should have tried a blocking bet of about half pot, if he made a big raise you could fold.

Thanks CDL, I was hoping it would generate some discussion and really the opinions vary greatly so far.

I considered this, but I don't think I'd fold out any hands and if I'm expecting to call, I'd rather give him the opportunity to bluff as well for the same or a similar price.

Now some of my thoughts.

If we were in position, I would probably find a fold here. However, I would think even pairing up his A or hitting 2 pair would result in him just wanting a cheap showdown to win the pot.

If you don't think he'll bet an A, much less 2 pair here then you need to call imo.
