THE WIRE T-Shirts

Some guy on eBay has a store called Bubbs Depot ( http://stores.ebay.com/BubbsDepot_Th...QQftidZ2QQtZkm ), which has the shirts as shown below. The Carcetti and Orlando's ones are kind of cool, but the ones that required any kind of creativity pretty much suck.

We should come up with a good Omar (and maybe other) shirt design -- I'd definitely pay shirt cost + premium to whoever made one.

I would definitely rock that Omar shirt. Thinking about ordering one in fact.

Re: THE WIRE T-Shirts

yea those suck, esp the Omar and Stringer ones.

I like the Wire posters that they have for each season (that turn into the DVD covers).

When I move out of my student apt and get a real place I plan on picking up and framing them all of em.

As for shirts, I'd like Omar's "I am the American Dream" that he wears once in the series. Otherwise, meh.

Re: THE WIRE T-Shirts

I own a Carcetti for Mayor shirt. It's pretty awesome.

I echo KneeCo in that I would very much like a I am the American Dream shirt.

I really, really, really want a Tony Gray for Mayor shirt but nobody on Cafepress sells them(they do sell Royce for mayor stuff).

Re: THE WIRE T-Shirts

American Dream is a good idea. Also (in order of how much I like them):

"I got the shotgun, you got the briefcase"

"Indeed"

"I robs drug dealers"

I see probably 2 "Carcetti for Mayor" shirts per day on average around Baltimore.

Re: THE WIRE T-Shirts

Bleh, $25 bucks sure sucks especially not knowing how good the material, fit, quality of the design is super sucks. I'd be more willing to buy these if they were made by one of those indiekid t-shirt web companies.

Orlando's is a winner, along with carcetti but I hate the color of the shirt itself.

I'd love a shirt with just a design of Bubb's red hat on it. Or something stupider like *copy of Adam Smith's The wealth of Nations* PLUS *a shotgun* = slick graphic of stringer bell. Heh, or just plain text that reads "I am Fuzzy Dunlop". etc. etc.

i like the words written on the upper back of the t-shirt, but i dislike the front.

i'm not paying more than $12 w/ shipping though.

i think anything with someone's face on it will probably look silly.

Re: THE WIRE T-Shirts

The shirts aren't bad, but Isn't this copyright infringement? This isn't like HBO or Burns selling them. I'd have no problem spending 20-30 for the shirt if it was legit.

It's a "repeated by everybody throughout the series" line. Omar hardly holds any specific ownership of the concept.

Re: THE WIRE T-Shirts

Got a quick giggle out of a few of em but would never wear em or anything.

For those that want the "I Am the American Dream" shirt, it's Ecko and was HUGE a few years back and should be super easy to find online for cheap.

Hijack cuz I don't feel like bumping the other Wire thread:

Was just rewatching the dog fight episode and I still don't get this part: before the fight Cheeses boy pours what looks like milk on the back of their dog, and the opponent dabbles their dogs back with a red rag.

Was the red rag dipped in chloroform or something? What was with pouring that liquid on Cheeses dog, just to keep it cool? Sorry for the ignorance but I don't know pretty much anything about dogfights.

On a related note, how can I get a shirt like this:
http://static.flickr.com/49/130951253_18e6c6ae6e_m.jpg

A guy designed it here, but it isn't actually available for purchase:

http://www.threadless.com/submission/34864/Never_Forget

His design is pretty good except that he should have the American flag font for the words.

Best shirt in the thread, IMO.

And that soundtrack looks phenomenal. The Paul Weller song (from my favorite montage in TV history) and the closing theme alone will get me to buy it.

If I wasn't scrawny I'd get a shirt made up that read:

"You want it to be one way.

But its the other way."

Seeing as I am scrawny, though, I'd feel pretty stupid wearing it.

Re: THE WIRE T-Shirts

Dids,

That song is amazing, especially when able to think back to the montage. The S4 one is also awesome.

I was doing some research and found that Steve Earle (Waylon , the recovering addict on the show) was actually a drug addict and wrote Feel Alright after his recovery in 1996. Copperhead Road is another of his songs which is pretty popular.
