Can Now Divulge That Stock and Who Recommended It

On the Sklansky Forum I told a story about a very smart successful poker player / businessman who I was friendly with but hadn't seen in over a year. He tells me he is now heavily into the stock market. After we chat awhile, he gets up to go but then after hesitating, he turns around to catch up with me and tell me the name of a stock. As if he felt guilty for not mentioning it earlier. I asked how many would agree with me that the way this came down, I'd be crazy not to buy it. I'm done arguing that point though you guys can continue the debate if you want.

At the time of my post I named neither the person or the stock. For various reasons. Now I can. In case that makes a difference. But it will be my last post on the subject.

It was early 2003. The stock was SAPE. My friend was Jay Heimowitz.

Did you end up investing?

Who cares. If he would have seen you in mid 2000 he could have recommended it to you when it was at $80.

All of your stock posts are pretty uninteresting as all you do is speculate.

For the curious but lazy:

SAPE traded between $2.2 and $1.53 during Q12006, hitting the low of $1.53 on 3/31/2003. Then it peaked at $9.25 on 10/28/04. It's been pretty volatile since then... down to $4.52 on 8/9/06... at $7.67 today.

It was at $72.75 on 8/8/2000 and $0.70 on 7/25/2002.

At least it has a low trailing P/E of 284.

I agree. For as smart as Im sure Sklansky is when it comes to poker, he comes off as a complete results-oriented monkey when it comes to finance and investing. So my advice to you David, before you decide to run off and join the circus: Dont quit your day job.

This thread is awful.

You guys are completely nuts. My OP here was simply a continuation of another thread regarding evaluating individuals recomendations in unique circumstances. When it first appeared I didn't have permission to divulge the names involved and some people were displeased with that.

id check out the situation for myself and if I liked what I saw id probably buy it too. I did that for OCPI when scorpion recommended it and I made a risk free 10% pretty much
