Not sobern and at home, ooops!

All your talk of somebody drinking for others make me think back in time when I wasn't an old alcoholic, then I was just an alcoholic.

So how much have you drunk in one day:

kerowo 11-17-2007 12:30 PM

Re: Not sobern and at home, ooops!

Where does half a fifth of vodka fall on that scale? That's my best I think.

JavaNut 11-17-2007 12:35 PM

Re: Not sobern and at home, ooops!

One normal beer (my scale) is about 2cl 40% alc. vol. vodka/whisky/whiskey/cognac etc.

kerowo 11-17-2007 12:42 PM

Re: Not sobern and at home, ooops!

So 1/2 of 1/5 of 2cl is like 1/100 a cl?
That doesn't seem right.

JavaNut 11-17-2007 12:50 PM

Re: Not sobern and at home, ooops!

1/5 is that 1/5 of one litre?

in that case it is 1/5 * 1/2 of one litre which is 1/10 of one litre which is 5 * 2cl (1l = 100cl). That would make it 5.

You are sure you never had more than (what is corresponding to) 5 beers in one day? If you never drink that much alcohol you might be right.

kerowo 11-17-2007 12:57 PM

Re: Not sobern and at home, ooops!

lol, I think a 1/5 is 750ml but it's been a long time since I've looked at a fifth. I've been trying to remember about how many shots it was and think it was about 12 or so. Figuring a shot == a beer that's about a half case more or less.

This was in college and for some reason I was doing vodka poppers but limiting myself to 3 every 15 minutes. This was back when New York Seltzer water was around and I was mixing them with the blackberry NYS water. I would remember the number more but both times I attempted this feat I sort of blacked out. The last time at a party at my house; very embarrassing to ask people why they didn't show up at my party after having half hour drunkern conversations with them the night before...

MrWookie 11-17-2007 01:06 PM

Re: Not sobern and at home, ooops!

Half of a fifth would be roughly 7.5 beers.

JavaNut 11-17-2007 01:06 PM

Re: Not sobern and at home, ooops!

A shot is usually about 1 beer so your number is about 12. I have only blacked out twice both times in the former soviet union. Drinking about 35cl of vodka and then a full bottle of russian champagne (champanskoie vino) is a bit of a killer. The other time was a full bottle of vodka after a couple of beers.

Kids do not do this at home.

If you want to black out, Jaagermeister.

I was in Hamburg, so figured I had to have Jaagermeister. Had a couple shots at the hotel bar, then went back to the local tap beer had a couple, went to pay my tab.

"You already did pay, sir!" The friendly bartender told me.

Yikes. Okay.

Spoil sport. Then again, that much in about an hour would have helped with the blacking out. I was a big boy in college and wouldn't have been hurting after 8 beers at a regular pace so maybe it was more... ahhh old guys remembering the old days, quality reading.

bravos1 11-17-2007 01:31 PM

Re: Not sobern and at home, ooops!

I had 7 beers and 3 shots in probably about 2.5 hours at the Yokahama, Japan Hard Rock Cafe after just flying in. Add in the 3 beers or so on the plane if you want... either way Bravos vaguely remembers walking back to his hotel room that night. Drinking, sleep deprivation, and 11 hours flights typically do not mix. As far as total mass quantity, no idea.. it mostly was in college via kegs.

I am a light weight now though.. had 3-4 martinis and 2 glasses of wine the other night and I basically went upstairs and passed out after we got home

Jägermeister

[/ QUOTE ]

How dare you say Jägermeister!

Well one of my class mates in highschool had a very bad experience with Jägermeister.

We went to one of the girls (sheilas) 18 yr. birthday in the morning before school from there we went through the local mall and he convinced another school mate of mine to share one full bottle of Jägermeister with him. So far so good. Most had to get to school at 9 am, the rest of us had to get there at 10 am. So we drank what we could get at the mall. (Where I live the limit for bying alcohol is 16, nya-nya-nya). We decided later to skip biology from 10 am to 12 am, and first join school at about 12:30 am. (My mother is so *NOT* proud of me for this). I drank resonably repsonsible so that I could actually attend school. Well my mate decided it was prudent to share another bottle of Jägermeister with another mate of mine. Not a good idea. Suddenly during our religion class he had to move very quickly from the class room and to the lavatories.

He still is the only person I know of that has ever puked during a religion class. All due to Jägermeister.

Re: Not sobern and at home, ooops!

33cl = 12 oz? And, "day" = 24 hours, or the time you woke up to the time you went to sleep?

Grandest confirmable total consumption for me is 100 light (ale, not Miller Lite) beers in about 7 hours, topped off by a pitcher of Guiness. I don't really count that, however, as though all of it made it to my stomach not all of it stayed there/made it past my stomach. That was the Day of 1,000 Beers in college.

I also had a number of Blow Pong competitions where I probably consumed > 40 cups of beer, but again a statistically significant portion of it found a new home after I enjoyed it, and the volume of a "cup" isn't necessarily consistent.

At the Tequila 500 (in honor of the Indy 500, we set up a track with 4 shots on it in the basement of my club...competitors had to scoot around the track with your stomach on a skateboard and take the shot without either using your hands or removing your stomach from the board), I made it through 3 rounds, losing in the semi-finals when I was disqualified for rolling off my board before I made it across the finish line. I retained all of that, along with a few beers to cleanse the palate while waiting for my next heat...the event took ~5 hours, I guess.

Then there were countless football/baseball/lacrosse/basketball game-day-Saturdays where we'd start with beers at breakfast, and spend the rest of the day drinking, plus the lacrosse tournaments, bachelor parties, Super Bowl weekends in Vegas/Laughlin, all those are easily worth > 20 beers but impossible to actually account for.

I'm a one-man alcohol industry PAC.

The tequila 500 sounds like something I might even do this day of age, sounds extremely fun.

Oh and anything below 24 hours count, no worries about datelines or anything else. Anything that you consider a day while drinking is drinking during one day, so don't worry about midnight, as you will not do that while drinking.

all,

i had a dream last night that i visited chicago, and that as part of that trip i drove about an hour out of chicago to rural illinois to visit kerowo at his house. (yes, awake me knows kerowo lives in non-rural colorado.) i don't remember too much about the antics, except that he offered me Pineapple-Orange-Banana juice to drink and that some other 2+2ers were there and we had a home game. in this home game, kerowo was nitty about various things, and i kept calling him a nit, and everyone laughed at him.

he had a nice house though -- lots of wood and pictures on the walls. oh, did i mention that in my dream, kerowo was like 55 years old?
