Girlfriend has HPV (warts?)
Oot,
My girlfriend got a call from her doctor yesterday saying that the results of her pap smear revealed that she had traces of HPV. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hpv She was not sexually active at all before I met her, and she did not test positive for her last pap smear (about 8 months ago, we have been dating for 6 months.) I suppose that this means that I also have HPV? To further worsen things she got mad at me last night when I refused to go downtown on her because the thought of HPV in my mouth grossed me out. I guess my question is whether any of you guys have had HPV? Is it a big deal/ little deal/ no deal at all? How did you guys handle it with your significant other, etc?? Thanks |

It's really not a big deal at all -- there are tons of people who have it and don't even know it. Feel free to chomp away.

BTW, if it's true that she was not sexually active before meeting you, then you gave it to her. |

If she was a virgin, then you gave it to her. While men are carriers, they don't get the symptoms or repercussions from it that women do. HPV can lead to ovarian cancer, which is why the new drug Guardasil came out, she should go get immunized as HPV has many different strains and there are only a few of them that cause the cancer.
Just because she has a strain of HPV that showed up on her test also doesn't mean that she will have any visible symptoms. I say continue on with the oral sexing, like others have said a lot of women have it and most don't even know. You've all probably oral sexed 1 or 2 of them, assuming you're getting some. I had an HPV post a few months ago, i had never really heard of it until the girl i was seeing tested for it. I talked to a doctor and he basically told me to not worry about it ever. girls should get screened regularly, but it rarely becomes a problem.
Also, her/your hpv infection is almost surely not the wart causing kind, are you would have noticed it by now. best advice is to forget about it, and continue as nothing happened. |

There are many strains of HPV and the kinds that yield pap smear results are NOT the kinds that result in warts. Be compassionate, and no, she didn't necessarily cheat on you because the symptoms can lie dormant for a long time (or, like others had said, you may be a carrier). |

Also, see if there's a follow up test. Because what happens sometimes is that they have an "abnormal" result, the nurse automatically assumes it's HPV, gf blows up, sex life disappears, then 4 months later after more tests turns out it was nothing and the bitch never told you even after treating you like [censored] about it for the entire time.
