I was going to start new thread, but I don't think this will generate much discussion, but it's more to make fun of Cubs and their bad luck lately.

Just now, against the Braves. They have the bases loaded. Guy hits a fast chopper to first, and the baserunner can't get out of the way. Ruled baserunner out, base hit for the batter. "Only for the Cubs, get a base hit with the bases loaded, and no one scores". I laughed.

As I'm writing this, grand slam. So there you go.

You beat me to it. The Cubs baserunning just keeps getting worse. I can't remember ever seeing a major league base runner hit by a batted ball.

Fire Pinella, hire Trammell? I miss his bewildered look from the Tigers dugout.

Given the Cubs luck, the rains will come and wash away DeRossa's Grand Slam.

Yeah, well it kinda feels that way. Nice to hear Hendry say that Pie is here to be the full-time CF. That's step #1.

Now we've got to solve RF, and that's quite the conundrum.
Jones is just about worthless, Floyd has already complained about being platooned and Murton is the only one with real trade value.

The whole catching a fly ball thing is holding Murton back a bit.

Finally, Pie is the everyday center fielder, which should have happened the first time he came up.

Now with right field, I'd give it to Murton and tell him it's his job every day, leftie or rightie, and give it a month and see how it goes. The Jones-experiment has run its course and let the kid play every friggin' day. Bat him 7th in front of Pie.

2 in a row. Hell of a game by Soriano. Good bullpen work too. Need to get the shoddy D cleaned up though.

This is pretty much what we all expected to see a lot of going into the season (except a quality start from Marquis). The defense, wow. Still, the fight/ejection seem to have had an effect on the club.
