big stack new to table, bet was pretty fast. cold caller is bad player who acts like a douche when he wins a big pot

on one hand im getting 4-1 and likely doubling/tripling if i hit. on the other hand its 20-25% of my stack and surely its a terrible call...this topic sucks...i need some peace of mind though

Ugh. Depending on how I was feeling I would either shove or fold.

I would only consider a call here if I felt like giving up the chips (with a -cEV call for set value) didn't effect my ability to play in the tournament. Here I feel like calling of 1K in chips and then check/folding the flop really hampers your ability to play when you miss.

So I think I'd push if I was tired. If I wasn't tired I'd probably just fold here.

honestly i didnt even think about shoving, since i feel like im almost never ahead there, esp in a micro

Well your range is probably well ahead of the SB's. I tend to assume big stacks early in micros are lagtards who have been lucky thus far. His range is probably wider than you think, readless. Given those two assumptions, your equity when you shove isn't that bad in this spot.

perhaps, but i figure if hes a lagtard he wuold have done a bigger raise with somethin like AK/AQ esp in the micros? coldcaller, figured some sort of pair or maybe AK, but coulda been wider since he wasnt that good...

just fold, this really isn't that close and anything else is overthinking

I would fold here as well. you are getting 4 to 1, but it's against 2 other people. I don't think I would shove or call in this situation with 8 8

Coming back a litte, what do you think about the raise UTG.
What was the intention by raising there? What you would like to accomplish? Take the pot down? Not be reraised?
Limping crossed your mind, what made you raise there withg a middle pair.?

Yeah, I agree with the poster above. Middle pairs don't play well UTG. They're fairly tough hands to play post-flop when you have position, never mind being out of position. I'd limp or fold this, especially in the micro tournies where play is quite loose.

As is, I'd fold this. You're probably behind here and can find better spots.
