Poker Options in PHX

I know that most people on here are all about Casino Arizona when in PHX. I was wondering if anyone has gone to the local cardrooms here in PHX. Its very nice not to have a rake and to be able to play NL (as opposed to 5/10-150 spread limit). So far the staff has even been top notch (except one slow dealer). Any thoughts?

unlocked - just found out the games are legal at any limits provided there is no rake.

Sorry, I guess I should have mentioned that it is perfectly legal, just not huge yet. So anyways, any thoughts on the matter?

Where and how?

This smacks of the days where it was legal for bars to run poker tables as long as the players dealt, and that was the wild, wild, west.

Hi WonderB

Yes, social gaming is legal in AZ, lots of little requirements, but bottom line is that the host can not directly profit, e.g. ranking the pot, time charge, etc.

I have played at the DD (double duce) a couple of times, and they were not able to get a NL game running. After seeing your post, I asked around...

The DD is sperading some PL from time to time on the weekend nights. There is a 5/10 game in the north Valley that is pretty much invite only as the result of a robbery this summer (dont ask as I havent been invited, yet..). There a ton of micro stakes NL in and around ASU.

I would be interested (as well as others) in what your experiences have been, what you know that I don't too.

Arizona Revised Statutes:

There are a LOT of items that, depending on who interprets them that day ( the officer working that beat that night, or the county attorney) COULD make the local "Social" games illegal.

I play poker in Phoenix, but outside of home games and at Casinos, I have not attended an open invite game...home games have been closed invites, and of course casinos open to the public.

I am on a couple e-mail lists, if you are interested send me a PM. I'm not sure the stakes they run, but normally the games start up after their weekly tournament.
