$60 89s: Fancy Play Syndrome?

50/100, 7 players left

Relavent stacks:
MP= 1300
BB= 1300 (Hero = 98s)

Preflop:
MP raises to 250, Hero calls

Flop: 5 9 J rainbow
MP bets 250, Hero pushes

Reads:
No specific read on villian, but i read his less than 1/2pot bet as weak.

FPS? Should have folded preflop?

What would you have done? WHY?

I would have folded this preflop. Hands like this require implied odds to be profitable. With these stack sizes relative to the blinds, you aren't deep enough.

As played I like the flop push, you're getting quite desperate and it looks like this cbet is weak and you have alot of FE, plus you still have outs if he calls with AJ/ TT+

I would fold preflop 100% of the time. You're putting 25% of your stack in with a weak hand and you don't have the implied odds to hit anyway since both of you only have 13BB.

it looks like from your post that you are in the BB. are you just giving us the BB stack? are you on the button here?

i would've folded pre-flop b/c i am not comfortable playing 98s post flop w/o hitting the flop hard w/strong draws. if you're comfortable playing this hand post-flop you've got position and a flop that seems to be screaming c-bet me from the original raiser so i don't mind the shove.

Right, it's 20% and some of that's already in there with his BB. (I thought the raise was to +300.)

I still can't see how anything but folding can be correct here with stack sizes as they are, and the raise coming from MP.

Why is he acting first postflop if you're in the BB and he's MP?

Does anyone like leading the flop better than c/r? I'm not sure I do, just wondering...
