24 Season 7 Preview

Here is a link to the preview for the seventh season of 24: 24 Season 7 Preview

Major spoilers and opinions in white:

The plot kind of sounds a lot like the fire sale in Live Free or Die Hard. I'm sure most of you have heard that Tony Almeida is back...but as a terrorist? Odds that there is a plot twist and that he actually turns out to be a good guy? Or is that too predictable? Maybe Jack will kill him...only to find out it was a super secret mission like Season 3...

I did not enjoy Season 6 very much at all and do not have much hope for Season 7, but I am sure I will watch it.

Thoughts?

Assuming everyone that has read this far doesn't mind about spoilers, but just in case SPOILERS
Eventhough the Tony plot is incredibly stupid since he clearly died, I won't mind it if it can produce a decent season. Also it's clear that Jack is no longer suicidal.

Re: 24 Season 7 Preview

well atleast theyre getting away from the status quo. Although tony being back is ridiculous. They should just just down a prequel deal or something if they wanted to use him. Also Jack Bauer with no one holding him back >>>>> CTU Jack Bauer.

Looks promising, but ..

SPOILERISH

Tony coming back is pretty soap opera of them.

Tony had to come back... hes the next best thing in 24

Looks amazingly original though, so glad they've left behind the nukes

Re: 24 Season 7 Preview

It's an odd numbered season, no nukes. (2,4,6 were nukes and 1,3,5 were assassination attempt, virus, chemical gas)

If Tony's back, than this time...it's personal. For the 135th time I guess.

I can understand why Fox wants to take down actual episodes. But the trailer is free advertising for your product. Why are they taking it down? Don't they understand that more people will find it in a random youtube search than going to the Fox website?

They've stolen from Die Hard 2 and 4. Will Jack have a wacky partner while they try to stop a madman? Will he befriend a cop who has been put behind a desk?

Tony didn't get the silent clock treatment when he got stabbed in the heart with a giant needle, therefore, alive? no?

Root for Tony, root for terrorism, I say.

I thought this as well except they needed to bring him back sooner if that was the case. Too much time has passed - wasn't their a funeral? The guy was stabbed with a needle, not decapitated.. you would think it would have been open casket.

Maybe they faked his death so they could insert him into this terrorist cell as a moley mole mole. Problem is that fake killing him in the middle of a national crisis seems like bad timing.

Whatever. I'm glad he's back but I'm curious to see how they are going to explain this.

Tony as a bad guy is complete and utter trash. Didn't they use the disgruntled ex Agent story line a few seasons ago?

Huge 24 fan. It's likely S7 will suck. But I'll give it a chance, 8-10 eps or so. But not expecting much.

Well it looks like they did a revamp, which I like. I mean obviously it's going to be tough churning out stories with the 24 hour time constraint. You can't just have jack bauer taking a [censored] and eating a tv dinner, so they will have to keep coming up with one ridiculous thing after another to keep prolonging the storyline.

Having Tony, just for the sake of being alive, but also a bad guy is on the verge of jumping the shark. Dear god I hope it works out.

As for a prequel to bring back Nina, Michelle, David Palmer, etc that just wouldn't work out because we obviously know who stays alive. Some of the best moments in 24 is getting the shocker when a a main character dies.

[/ QUOTE ] yea but you add 2 other main characters one of them that died or something. It wouldnt work with bringing Palmer back obv because of The Unit but w/e.

A prequel might not be bad. It doesn't have to based on the early years of CTU. It could be based on Jack being in the army on how/why he left leading him to CTU.

Re: 24 Season 7 Preview

This was also added to the official trailer site:

Preview of Season 7

Set in Washington, DC, “Day 7” opens with CTU dismantled and JACK BAUER (Kiefer Sutherland) on trial. Bauer’s day takes an unexpected turn when former colleague TONY ALMEIDA (Carlos Bernard) returns. Meanwhile, President ALLISON TAYLOR (Cherry Jones) leads the country alongside White House Chief of Staff ETHAN KANIN (Bob Gunton) and First Gentleman HENRY TAYLOR (Colm Feore).

A national security crisis prompts an investigation by a team of FBI agents including Agent JANIS GOLD (Janeane Garofalo), Agent RENEE WALKER (Annie Wersching), Agent LARRY MOSS (Jeffrey Nordling), Agent SEAN HILLINGER (Rhys Coiro) and security specialist MICHAEL LATHAM (John Billingsley). Although CTU is no longer, CHLOE O’BRIAN (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and BILL BUCHANAN (James Morrison) are back for another momentous day of shocking events.

Bob Gunton was the warden in The Shawshank Redemption. Janeane Garofalo is pretty cool too.

The hate in this thread is retarded. Last season was horrible, we know. I only watched half of it as well. But that was one weak season out of 6.

So I'm not sure why some people anticipate "another gay season". Unless of course you never really liked the show in which case you're a fool for posting in this thread to start with.

We're all apprehensive after last year's fiasco but it seems as though the producers have recognized the problem and are going to do something about it. Who knows if they can fix the show but I'll certainly give them the benefit of the doubt based on their track record.

End of thread:

We all disagree on which seasons are awful/fantastic, yet if you're a genuinely hardcore 24 fan, you know that one halfassed (not really) season doesn't mean anything, as it's an extremely successful show.
If you're not that hardcore, don't watch it. end of story.

If it was the 3rd season that was so awful and the 4th, 5th and 6th were great, then you would be right. However, it was the most recent that was awful, it's much more reasonable to assume that the 7th will follow it.
