VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

This thread is for non-players to watch the game, as it happens.

I'll be posting the "Diary Room" entries from the players, the voting, as well as any tidbits regarding alliances, etc, that I pick up from the players. I want as much information to be available for the spectators as possible.

There may also be something for watchers to do later in the game.

I trust that you will all respect the game, and not try & ruin it by telling the players what's in this thread.

Now, some whitespace so the players have a chance to bail without seeing anything.

I will be updating this thread as much as possible. I'd also like to see some opinions from other POGgers not in the game.

Thanks to everyone that submitted for the quiz. As I compile answers (which I'll be doing in bits and pieces), I'll put some of that in here, as well.

Who do you think is the favourite to win, and why?

did you ever get a comod, or still need one?

Zurvan 10-09-2007 11:56 AM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

At this point, I think I can handle everything on my own.

I got a few offers, so if I need someone for something, I'll definitely ask.

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

Boiler's keys to winning:
-active early as inactive players are likely to be targeted first
-avoid HOH, especially midgame, as you have a very good chance of being put up the next week.
-walk the line of being UTR without appearing to be UTR,
-ie appearing to be head of your alliance or "skating utr" can get you KO'd
-be part of the bigger alliance

Boiler's picks: (although I think most have the potential to win if things fall right):
alex
clown
chuck

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

I think Chuck has the best chance to win. Mets would have a good shot if he didn't win that popularity game. I think he'll exit early.

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

PS, I would've love to play (I was in the other one that broke up), but school deeply hinders my time to play. [censored] triple majors...

WTF is going on? Does anybody understand what's up with all the posting/strategy/etc in thread?

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

I am taking HBE to win this thing.

Nez is a darkhorse candidate.

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

Faves:
clown
chuckles
nez

Goin down early:
mets: success in +/- is not a good thing in this game.
nich: lack of AIM will hurt him

Zurvan 10-09-2007 02:46 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

I strongly disagree re: clown

He FPS's way too much, and he's gonna get himself backed in to a corner if he doesn't shut his yap in thread.

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

well, he is a sooner

and everyone knows that sooners suck!

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

My early pick to win this thing is Herbie, with a side order of nez.

I'll be talking a little bit about the alliance structure after I post the results of the first challenge.

Zurvan 10-09-2007 02:52 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

To further my prediction:

Unless he wins the first HoH, I think clown gets nominated first, and probably voted out.

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Luckay wins.

wdcbooks 10-09-2007 04:00 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

I would take action against Luckay and give you 10-1.

antidan444 10-09-2007 04:07 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

That's why it's a limb and not a treehouse.

having barely read the game-thread, I probably wouldn't take that bet

*edit- give me 14:1

actually- given the fact that Luckay is afk, I'll want better odds than that even- its far too easy to eliminate an afk player who probably isnt a part of any alliances

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

who wants last longer for monies? srsly....

everyone gets a player, puts in like $5 or somthing... escrow to a mod (not durron ldo) then whoevers player lasts longer wins it all. down?

alex jacob
Chuck
clown
dmk
HBE
herbie
Luckay
Mets
nez
nich
Siegmund
Valenzuela

Wagering is perfectly acceptable.

Caveat: ONLY PEOPLE I KNOW CAN BET. No gimmicks, no noobs. No cheating.

I'll escrow, if you want.

this thread is suddenly more interesting than the actual game thread.

wdcbooks 10-09-2007 09:43 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

I am definitely in for that bet. We can do it like a draft, if we get 4 people we can each pick three people.

DustinG 10-09-2007 09:44 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

im in. I have no clue what my picks would be, but in...

DustinG 10-09-2007 09:48 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

so if we each picked 3 or 4 people, would it be whoever had the highest average finish, or just the highest finish overall?

I dont think this really matters btw and probably wouldn't effect strategy

Cueballmania 10-09-2007 09:48 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

Books, Eskimo, Dustin and myself 4 way draft?

sounds right

i say we just go with whoevers pick goes the deepest

Zurvan can rand the order that we get to choose, then we just do that in the thread

We each pick two players using the format: 1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1?

DustinG 10-09-2007 09:55 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

why not each pick 3?

4 of us and 12 players....

Cueballmania 10-09-2007 09:59 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

I misunderstood your terminology of "whoever's pick goes the deepest." Should've said "Whoever's pick won." Less words. So, I decided to agree with you.

But I originally thought pick three was the way to go.

If it's these 4, then the rand order is

Cueball
Eskimo
Books
Dustin

Snake draft, each take three?

If you guys wanna do something else, go crazy. I'm going to bed now.

DustinG 10-09-2007 10:11 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

i had to look up what snake draft was, but yeah, I'm fine with that. I'd actually rather be 4 than 1 in that format but 2 and 3 are probably best

agreed. I think we're just waiting on Eskimo to come back.

lets say if we don't hear from him within 30 minutes we just go with the 3 of us

why not? i've escrowed 4 figure bets before

Bulletproof Monk 10-09-2007 10:19 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

i prefer average to winner, otherwise we are just going for 'pick the winner' rather than 'last longer'....

there are 12 players right, so the payout is '12 - finish'

for example, if your player gets 3rd you get 12-3 = 9 points.

im willing to do the snake draft thing too, are we agreed on a fiver?

Bulletproof Monk 10-09-2007 10:19 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

btw obviously highest score still wins it all

Bulletproof Monk 10-09-2007 10:21 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

i also dont mind just each having one player and the furthest gets it....

DustinG 10-09-2007 10:22 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

Eskimo,

thats fine with me. Its not going to effect how I make my picks at all (mostly random). And I think your scoring method is fine too.

and yeah, $5 is fine.

Bulletproof Monk 10-09-2007 10:24 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

ok well i guess its up to cueball to see what he thinks of the average system, and then to pick first (havent yet looked up snake draft)

DustinG 10-09-2007 10:25 PM

Re: VIEWER THREAD - Big Brother - NO PLAYERS

1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1,1,2,3,4 will be the order we pick
