opponent was a std tag, 21/17.5/6 over around 150. by the river im very sure he has a mid pair, but i wasnt sure how much i could extract. how much would you bet, if at all? i dont like betting the turn cause a set could still be checking 2 streets, and midpairs would be putting me on a slowplay as well

Poker Stars, $0.10/$0.25 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LegoPoker Hand History Converter

BTN: $25.45
SB: $71.50
BB: $79.10
UTG: $8.50
MP: $28.10
Hero (CO): $32.35

Pre-Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (CO)
UTG calls $0.25, MP raises to $0.75, Hero raises to $2.75, 4 folds, MP calls $2

Flop: ($6.10) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)
MP checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($6.10) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)
MP checks, Hero checks

River: ($6.10) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)
MP checks, Hero should valuebet how much?

I prefer a turn bet and lol if you're fearing a set already an he hasn't even done anything.

seems like he would put me on a stronger range then i have if bet the turn, and he wouldnt likely continue with a weaker hand

Re: ***uNL Microbrew Thread*** NOV 2007 (ot)

On the turn I'd rather not give broadways a free card on the river. He could easily have a Tx like JT or KT or picked up a flush draw with his connector. I prefer to just bet, you're hand is likely best.

Micro Donk 11-01-2007 04:27 PM

Re: ***uNL Microbrew Thread*** NOV 2007 (ot)

broadways dont seem like a big concern. i havent been playing back at him, so it doesnt seem the odds of them and im ahead of them are big enough...maaaybe KQs

[/ QUOTE ]Limit is more profitable for me it seems, lol. I know the variance can be brutal but I cause too much of my own NL variance making bad plays, starting to think it's an unfixable leak going on 2yrs now. Can't control myself. Get stacked. Minbet poker doesn't tilt me. Meh, whatever I lost a bet. Plus you get to value bet 4th pair, and it's just the hottest thing ever.

LOL Value bluffing...

Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
3 folds, Button raises, 1 fold, Hero calls.

Flop: (4.50 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets, Hero raises, Button calls.

Turn: (4.25 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, Button calls.

River: (6.25 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, Button calls.

Final Pot: 8.25 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has Ac 9s (high card, ace).
Button has 3s Ks (high card, king).
Outcome: Hero wins 8.25 BB.

limit tilts, but it is a more longterm exhaution tilt, likewise with sngs

You don't get the shocks that are inherent in NL and you can't bluff away a stack.

And honestly .. I don't believe limit is less profitable than NL, I think NL in many ways is easier as you can just autonit it, but limit you need a lot of reads.

I don't believe that nitting up a limit table will get you anywhere ... and you need to know if calling down with K high or betting 65s on that 589T board is for value

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, it's a different kind of tilt. I still play what I think is correctly at all times, against my opponent. In NL tend to start making godawful calls, where in limit calling with a pair on river isn't *too* bad in most cases. Getting stacked makes me sick. Losing 5 bb's because some idiot hit runner runner flush, meh I don't care.

And it can definitely be played on less tables more fun/efficently. IMO it vastly helps your hand reading and value betting skills. So much that NL players should play it from time to time just to improve in those areas.

P.S. Up 60 bb's 2tabling today, heh.

Dammit vix, now you make me want to play limit. It's been well over a year since I touched limit. It looks like tonight I'll be playing a mix of:

- 50NL
- .50/1 limit? (not sure which limit to play)
- $4/180 MTTs
- Alcohol

Which one is not like the other?

You guessed it...

...limit. (Alcohol goes w/ 50NL & MTT imo)

It's almost time for my monthly realization that I suck at poker. Usually it's like:

- Lose between 5-10 BIs during the first few days
- Break even for a couple weeks
- Win enough in the last week to put my win rate around 1 ptBB/100 for the month
- ????
- Profit obv
