Thinking of getting.....
 

...something like a Blackberry, Blueberry, whatever it's called, but want to get a different brand (due to the current possibilities of the aforementioned brand being blacked out). Is it a worthwhile investment and what brand is the 2nd best?

The chances of Blackberry going dark are pretty remote considering the PTO has all but finalized a ruling that the five patents in dispute are invalid.
