I want to write my own hand converter

Hi all. I'm interested in writing my own hand converter, but I don't know what programming language would be appropriate. I'd like it to be web based. I pick up languages pretty quickly but at this point I really only know C and html. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

php, perl, coldfusion, ruby, ...
and html is not a programming language

Python would work pretty well.

PHP would be the easiest place to start. It's also widely supported by cheap hosting companies.

Thanks all, I'll start by looking into PHP. Wish me luck.
