Never had one in my life. But I did hole one from 145 yards to an uphill green today. /brag. WOOT!

Re: how many holes in one did you have this year?

I've had two on a par 3 course (back to back in fact...and the second one my dad got one too), but I've never had one on a full course in maybe 500+ rounds. My dad had one this year (his 2nd)...it was a nice one too.

Did you see it go in? Sounds like maybe not. My last ace was few years ago, probably 180 yards or so, flag was all the way back. I turned to my friend, who was a member at the course, and said "I think it went in". He just said "nah, I think it went over the green". So not the most thrilling, celebratory moment. The cart path winds behind the green so when we didn't see a ball we knew it was in, but it was kind of an anticlimax. Way better to see it drop.

Oh, and eff that lady in the OP. What a lying attention whore.

Re: how many holes in one did you have this year?

Obviously the lady has issues and no aces.

I've been lucky enough to have five, only one of those was in competition but it makes for a funny story.

My girlfriend at the time had watched me play a lot of golf and she had always said that if she ever saw me make a hole-in-one she would (do) me right then and there. Well, she's spectating during the last round of a tournament when I dunk a 4-iron from 200. We all saw the ball go in, my playing competitors clap and all I did was turn to her and point. She gets this confused look on her face before it finally hits her. She sputters a few unintelligible words while her face turns bright red and then I start shouting at her that she promised! By this time my competitors are most curious and they start asking questions. She remains silent but I shout over to her, "You know you promised you'd (do) me if you ever saw me make an ace!" So now of course everybody is cheering and hollering and my poor girlfriend is now white as a ghost. We even pointed out there was a bathroom right behind the green. She wimped out, needless to say everybody was disappointed.

Re: how many holes in one did you have this year?

Lol @ BO.

I had a hole in one 21 years ago at 13 yrs old. When I was on tour I joked with my caddies a few times that I was due to win a car or better cause I had waited so long for my second ace.

I once lipped out after coming back of a tier in the 3rd rd of the New Zealand open. Would've netted me a Honda S2000 convertible. I was playing in the second group of the day as I had made the cut (probably the only one that season) on the number. I was playing with Grant Waite and Nathan Green.
Nathan had earlier that season holed out for $500,000 at the Aussie Masters, which really kicked his career along nicely.
So I was probably the 4th or 5th guy to have a shot at the car. Later that day nursing a cold beer in my hotel room after a disappointing 79 I watch the tournament leader Greg Turner bring the ball back off the same tier and his ball stopped about an inch short right in the jaws. I no longer felt unlucky, because I can honestly say that 5 hours earlier his ball would've had no chance of ever stopping where it did. That was about 6 years ago, and I'm still waiting for Ace #2.

Re: how many holes in one did you have this year?

0 this year for me so far.

I'm going to New Zealand in a few weeks though so I'll be able to play a ton more than I have so far, so I guess there's still a chance I get one before the years out.

EDIT: LOL at that article.Good find.

1 career ace. 9-iron on a 155 yard hole during a high school tourney 4 years ago. What made it even more special was that it was backed up and there was a large crowd around the tee. Pretty nice feeling. Don't think I'll have too much trouble finding someone who can corroborate my hole-in-one.

Well, being in high school you probably weren't bound to that "have to buy everyone drinks" thing. A friend of mine had one during a guy's golf trip in Mexico. Twelve guys, it cost him several hundred dollars but he manned up and paid the tab.

Re: how many holes in one did you have this year?

Been playing fairly competently for almost 30 years and I've never had one.

I've witnessed five in the last 3 or 4 years, though - all from guys I regularly play with at my home club. Despite my best efforts I've not been able to drink enough to make up for the $10 I get billed every time a member has a hole in one.

0, lipped out TWICE this year. One hit the pin on the backspin with an 8. I ended up shooting 72, the ace would have put me under for the first time in my life!

on topic; no holes in one this year (or ever); in fact I don't think I had a birdie putt closer than 3 feet on a par 3 this year (and I missed that one).

I have one hole in one in my life and came on the first day I ever played golf. We went to the local pitch and putt in high school and on the 4th hole, 100ish yards, I blade a low liner that lands about 50 yards down and rolls all the way up onto the green and into the hole; I haven't been close since.

I was making the point (longwinded point I admit) that I have waited 21 yrs since my last hole in one, I've played probably 5 times a week in that 21 yrs, so I find her story just "slighty" incredible.

Re: how many holes in one did you have this year?

I read the article in Golf Digest. I actually got her e-mail and sent her a message about what a fraud she is. I said there was no way she had that many hole in ones nor did she shoot a 61. I am a 4 handicap and have played golf over 20 years. I have seen a total of 4 hole in ones in my life.

I have played with PGA golf pros and the lowest round I have seen shot is 64.

She actually responded to my e-mail saying that the reporter never talked to the 26 other witnesses and that the course she shot the 61 was incredibly easy that my grandmother could even do it.

I actually apologized to her. I don't know the situation and here I went out of my way to attack her.

She invited me to play golf next time I am in Palm Springs.

The 3 iron i hit 180 with one hand, whilst using my other to talk on my cell, that ended 4 inches away was probably the best i have ever hit.

That would be sweet if true, and the IP checks out to SoCal. But whereas she apparently lives in the Palm Springs area, this IP is for the LA suburb of Tarzana, somewhere near Burbank. I checked her blog and the ESPN article and it makes no mention of her spending any time there, sadly.

Haha. I went out of my way to get her e-mail and attack her. Do I believe she had 16 hole in ones or shot a 61? Eff no. Still, all I read is an article and the media can (and has) slanted information. I shouldn't be jumping to conclusions.

This is probably another Rose Ruiz. Someone desperate for attention and she sure got it!

As long as you're on her good side, send her a link to this thread and have her register and defend herself, please. This has potential to turn into very funny thread.

Also, I'm a little disapointed that no one has created a gimmick account to defend her in an entertaining way. Meh, I guess I'll go back to BBV and OOT.

Re: how many holes in one did you have this year?

The most jarring thing about this story is that golf is supposed to be a game of honor and honesty, and here we have this woman abusing that and throwing it back in everyone's face. Seriously, I don't know how she shows her face at her home club, they must hate her there knowing what a fraud she obviously is. Argh.

She has already (obviously) posted in the ESPN discussion board about defending herself.

As I said, I personally don't think she had 16 or even 3 hole-in-ones, but I wasn't there for any of the fakes.

Probably not pole-worthy, so I'll just let whoever wants to respond do so:

About how many rounds of golf have you played, and how many times has someone hit a shot where nobody saw the finish and the ball ended up in the hole?

As a guess, I'll say I've played about 300 rounds of golf, and this has happened to me exactly zero times.
