Re: Heisman Rankings

I'm sure most UF fans, myself included, can accept that Dixon > Tebow for the Heisman because:

1) Dixon's team has 2 less losses
2) Tebow is a Sophomore

But to try and come up with other various opinions to bash on Tebow such as "McFadden > Tebow" is pretty silly, especially when we have been so realistic about Dixon being the frontrunner.

And Dixon averages more yards per carry by a full yard. W/Ls come into play when 2 players have similar numbers against similar SOS.

if we don't care about wins-losses,
McFadden > Tebow

I know you're smart enough to know this isn't even close to true

ummmm... yes it is
talent supporting Tebow >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;> that for McFadden

Florida's O-line came into this year rated the #2 unit in all of college football by Phil Steele. Arkansas did not make the top 31. Florida's wideouts came in at #6. Arkansas' receivers were #26 with a healthy Marcus Monk.

McFadden just crushes and looks better than the two in my estimation when I watch them.

Tebow has the world open to him. McFadden doesn't have that luxury.

Running behind 5 yard o-line pushes is not something McFadden gets to do too often.

I think the choice is clear, but I realize most people don't see the whole game going on and are caught up in watching the ball.

right I forgot McFadden doesn't have Felix Jones in his backfield with him

MT2R, i was going to bring out the phil steele stuff too...

there's a bunch of guys doing great things (BCS conferences) surrounded by very marginal talent (juxta-position with tebow having caldwell/harvin as #1-rated WR in each of their classes. harvin was #1 overall recruit in america)

i think this will be my last post.... we can probably all agree to disagree..

Just out of curiosity, where was Oregon's offensive line ranked? Is there anything there I can use to justify my opinion that Jonathan Stewart is a better back than McFadden?

Re: Heisman Rankings

Oregon o-line was #18 preseason
#15 wideouts

Re: Heisman Rankings

Those OL rankings were way off, the whole UF OL was essentially rebuilding. I don't know how you could rank them #2, not to mention they have been one big injury all year long & have played very bad at times. Tebow doesn't get 5 yard OL pushes.

Without Tebow, the WRs aren't as good. Bubba Caldwell was not much until this year with someone actually getting him the ball & even Percy Harvin is doing more because of Tebow. If anything, at times the WRs are killing Tebow's stats with at least 5 EASY TD drops that didn't end up being scores later. These WRs never had someone who could throw the deep ball while Chris Leak was the QB.

McFadden just looks better? Please, talk about not getting caught up in watching the ball. Saying it is clear McFadden >>> Tebow is unreal. Just because the talent is different, doesn't make him the best player. The positions are totally different. Tebow is definitely the more valuable to his team of the two.

So... umm, how about Oregon's wideouts now?

I'm surprised the o-line was ranked that high, though, cool!

that definitely helps

you'll notice none of the contenders mentioned are completely by themselves

However, having Harvin, Caldwell, CI, and the rest behind that huge o-line is a very nice situation for Tebow.
The only thing he is missing is the RB (who'll be there next year with Moody)

Tebow is a great player...I just don't see him as Heisman this year with the other candidates
