General anesthetics, recovery from

I'm going to have a minor surgery this week and will put under while it is going on, which will by my first experience with a general anesthetic. Anyone who has been through this want to share what the recovery is like? The procedure is supposed to be about an hour if that makes a difference. I'm concerned because the friends I'm going to hang out at afterwards has twin babies who are teething and don't to spend more time there than I have to...

You feel awful. All I remember that I couldn't separate from actual surgery.

Most likely you will feel mild-severe nausea in the recovery room. This passes after ~1-2 hours. Beg for zofran if it is too bad. You're going to feel tired and groggy as you're waking up. Depending on how good your anesthesiologist is, the worst of this will go away in 1-3 hours or so, but it's not uncommon to be groggy for the rest of the day. Shouldn't feel any pain post-op (that'll come in 24 hours or so). Personally, I'd avoid hanging with friends on the day of your surgery.

I live alone and they are the ones getting me after the surgery. Mostly I'm trying to get a sense of how much of that "don't be alone for 24 hours after surgery" thing I need to worry about.

I don't know what exact form of anesthetic I was given but only a couple hours after waking up I was feeling fine, no nausea and it looks like I'll have percacets left when the pain is gone.
