Question on false information
 

What if :

1) Player A moves all in and says he has exactly 100$, player B calls and after the showdown won by player A,player A annonces that he acutally had 150$. Does player B have to pay 150 ?

2)Same situation but player A says he has about 100$ and has actually 150.

3)The dealer informs player B that player A has 100 but player A has 150.

I think that in the third case player B shouldnt pay more than 100$ as the information came from the dealer.

The second happened to me (a guy moved in and told me he had 100 when he actually had 150) and I though it was my fault as I should have ask the dealer.

Situation A I have no idea what is the rule.

There's really not enough information in any of your scenarios to make a good ruling. Generally if the guy doesn't look like he's shooting an angle you must cover his entire all-in unless the dealer confirmed the amount first. "About" isn't a value. It's like penalizing a player for revealing information when someone at the table asks him what he has and he responds with "A good hand."

If someone goes all in before you simply ask the dealer "How much is it to call?" I would never expect to pay anything less then the actual amount he bet unless the dealer miscounted the bet and told me the wrong amount after I requested a count.

So if the dealer makes a mistake you only have to cover what the dealer told you ?

I think that in situations 1 & 3 you only have to pay $100, in situation 2 you have to pay the whole $150 because he said he had about $100. In all three I would ask for a definite count by the dealer before making a call even if I know I am going to call.

How does $150 look like $100? Are there hidden big chips or bills involved?

You're going to get various rulings from various floors here. Your best defense is to avoid exposing yourself to this situation. Get a chip count that you witness.

Well if for some reason the guy had a 25$ chip in a stack a 5$ (and those chip have about the same color) it could make both the dealer and the player a mistake.

Also the player could make a mistake intentionnaly to make a call more likely.

In my case (situation 2) the guy answered "about 100" pretty quickly I didnt care enough to ask the dealer to count. I would have called anyway but it made me wonders.
