postgre sql + pt databases on external harddrive?

hi there,

i'd like to know if it's possible to install postgre sql on an external usb-harddrive which ist ntfs-formatted. and if so, would the usb-connection slow down pokertracker significantly?

my system-harddrive ist fat32-formatted, so that i can't install postgre. furthermore, storing my potertracker-databases extern woud be the perfect solution regarding a new computer in the near future and having the databases save in general.

i would be more than happy if anyone can give me advice or has experience in this

Yes, it will work. As long as you have a USB 2.0 Hard Drive and your PC supports USB 2.0.
There will be some performance penalties because of the USB connection. It would be better if you could use an IEEE 1394 external hard drive. The performance penalty is the access times I/O of the database. Give it a try and let us know how PT + HUD performs in an external USB hard drive.

Another alternative is to run Postgres in a Virtual PC environment. You can use either VirtualBox or Microsoft Virtual PC 2007. Both are free downloads.
Virtual Box: http://www.virtualbox.org/
Virtual PC 2007: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...c/default.mspx
