Best/Worst Video Game Endings Ever
 

I didn't have much to do tonight so I sat down and owned Top Gear (SNES) on Championship difficulty. I had beaten the game before on Amateur (which told me I could then beat it on Professional) and on Professional (which told me to beat it on Championship), and I was somewhat dissapointed when all it did was congratulate me after winning in championship difficulty. I guess that's standard for racing games. On another note, Top Gear is probably the best racing game evar.

So what are some of the best/worst endings to any video game/pc game you've ever played?

Some of my favourites: Half-Life 2 & Portal (obv), MGS2, Majora's Mask (even more so than OoT)

edit: Also, while the ending wasn't really great in any way, beating FF1 for the first time ever was a huge experience for me.

Super Metroid has to rank up there with best endings. I can't believe you liked the MGS2 ending. It's one of the worst endings ever.

I'm not sure if it counts; but Chrono Trigger had something like 19 different endings all based on how and when you beat the game in the storyline. I thought that was awesome.

Love the ending to FF3(6), probably the best of all the games I've played.

You liked HL2? Man, I came in here to nominate it for one of the worst. You go through all this trouble to get to the final boss, but then in the last level, you get a weapon so powerful as to make the whole thing trivially easy. Then, once you finally accomplish you're goal, you blow up anyone you remotely cared about, if it all wasn't just a dream.

Medal of Honor:Allied Assault sucked as well. Also, GRAW's ending was horrible, it went from being a fairly realistic squad shooter to some horrible action movie complete with the villian yelling no as he plummeted to his death. Just horrible.

I honestly can't think of too many good endings, usually game designers just plain suck at ending their games, and I don't actually beat too many of my games, I just play until I get bored and then move on.

fallout1/2 have the best endings, kotor 2's ending is terrible.

Bioshock's ending was pretty terrible.
