Flop: ($1.05) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)

This guy was about 45/13. Basically he had major post flop leaks, I guess the best way to categorize it is erratic. Anyway, I figured I had to 3 bet his cbet, but then when he shoves is it a good enough price? Is a call good here?

Just a little note. I can kinda see how I might 3 bet this pf, but I don't see how calling is terrible either. Also, I have been working on my 3 bet sizing and trying to make it a bit larger so any advice on how I should size the flop 3 bet is appreciated.

Thanks guys.

There is no way you can fold this, you're getting 3:1 with tptk.

Your 3-bet is too big if you plan on raise/folding (which I don't really like), I would probably always 3-bet to $3.60 or so if I planned on doing it here.

Calling the flop is also an option and against an unknown something I would often do.

That's what I figured, I called, he had KK, w/e, he ended up donating most of it back my way. Thanks subzero.

I definitely 3-bet this pre-flop. He posted and we are ahead of his range here.

By the time we see his flop raise, we would be getting approximately 2.5:1 to call. If we figure his range is 88+, QTs+, JT and JTs we have the following equity:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 56.664% 52.07% 04.59% 38147 3365.00 { 88+, AQs, KQs, QTs+, JTs, AQo, KQo, QTo+, JTo }
Hand 1: 43.336% 38.74% 04.59% 28383 3365.00 { AdQd }

So I think we have to call.

In regards to the size of the flop raise, I think it is ok as long as we are committed to this hand.

You underplayed this preflop, which I'd make about $2. KQ, QJ both playing out this way IMO. Even worse hands from time to time like gutshots plus pair, I think these are plausible even though he's got no FE. Definitely call now. Not THE best flop but an excellent one still.

I usually make the 3bet raise size pot-size. So I'd bump it to like 3.5 here.

I prefer 3bet PF but mixing it up with a call now and again is fine.

Against an unknown I think this is a fold - only hand you may be up against that you beat is KQ and possibly split. I think a draw is pretty unlikely. But given your read, and the fact that your 3bet was a bit steep, I lean towards a call here - but it's mostly based on your read.

It's $5 to win $15. You'll have an easier time seeing it if you break it up into villain calling the $4.20 (making about a $10 pot), then saying "I raise you $5 more." Hero can win the pot ($10) and the additional bet ($5) by putting in his last $5.

The pot was $14.80 after his shove, I had to call $5.35. So, 2.76:1.

I like it, I can see how calling pf can be a good idea vs this guy. I think he is the kind of guy who raises big cards and limps speculative hands, so I donīt mind seeing a flop in position. You want him to overplay his hand postflop. On the flop I get it in and am happy about it. Sucks he had KK but he wont have it everytime.
