what do you think my action should have been on the flop? did I make a bad fold?

By check-raising on the flop, you are committing more of your stack. Villain 3bet you PF so he might have QQ-AA here. Also, his low bet to induce a raise on the flop is very suspicious.

I would fold PF, but as played, bet the flop first then fold to the raise IMO.
