Aussie Millions

Did anyone play last year? I am going in January and wanted to see about the side games. Do they spread 10/20, 20/40, 25/50 NLHE? I am told it is one of the best run and "fun" tournaments, any thoughts? Thanks

Re: Aussie Millions

It's an awesome time man. They run 5/10, 10/20, and 25/50 NL and maybe some bigger stuff depending on who shows. This one is not to miss.

It's a great time with plenty of action. Melbourne in late December/early January is awesome.

And don't forget the Australian Tennis Open is on (Jan 14-27). Roddick is usually a regular in the poker room each January.

What are the lowest games they run during Aussie Millions? Is it going to be 2/3 + depending on what higher limit games are running? or only 2/5+ or something?

You're from Melbourne FMA??

Anyway, as you probably know, they normally spread 1/2 but only spread 2/3 during the Pokernews Cup so I imagine it'd be the same for the AM. (This is awesome because all the 1/2 donks step up to 2/3 )

I will be there working with Fox Sports again and will have some involvement with Full Tilt and Crown as well. If you have any questions about the tournament, television, or FT activities I can probably get them answered.

Hi Matt and thanks for posting,

i was wondering if there was going to be any ammendments for the satelittes into the main event? I was present this year and thought the structures for these satelittes were really poor and favoured way more luck than should be present.

Re: Aussie Millions

I will check into it, I had some input into the tournaments but not the satellites.

Yeah, I'm from melb Wake_Up. I figured it'd be the same as during the Pokernews Cup and Vic Champs, but the turnout for AM will be ALOT bigger obviously, so I thought they may cut out 2/3 aswell

ShipitFMA 11-04-2007 07:06 AM

Re: Aussie Millions

Obviously can't edit my post now, I'm just looking to find out the structures of the prelim events at AM. If anyone can link me to or tell me when they're being released that'd be appreciated.

Re: Aussie Millions

I am booked to leave LA on 1/8 and be in Melbourne from the 10th to the 22nd. Planning on the $1650 event on the 10th, Main Event on the 14th and depending on how I fare, heads up on the 17th, Team Event on the 18th and the short handed event on the 19th. Of course, if I am skilled (or lucky) enough to go deep at the ME, the balance of the events will not be available. Hoping in between the 10th and 14th to play some nice cash games (10/20, 20/40) or the equivalent.

Who else is going and where are you staying?

The fact that Matt Savage is involved is awesome. He brings such class and competence to any event he is involved in.

Thanks Barry, Aussie Millions has become one of my favorite stops on the tour. Great restaurants and friendly people are the highlights for me. The tournament has a great structure and the staff works really hard to make the event great.

Yeah, they have rails set up for the spectators including one non tv feature table right next to the rail for people to watch.

During the main event there are a few places to watch the tournament and the final table will be broadcast live in the poker room with awesome commentary (Me:-) but no hole cards.

Re: Aussie Millions

Just told my family that I'm leaving them in Sydney so I can play at least the first event. The hotel is selling out quickly.

Looks like you can buy in with a credit card. I assume this is treated like a cash advance. I'm wondering if I can have them charge more than the buy in (in an attempt to transfer a bankroll to the casino) This would be similar to wiring money- I'd just have to make the credit card payment quickly to avoid being raped with usury charges.

Any thoughts? If not, what is the best way to get my USD bankroll to Melbourne?

Re: Aussie Millions

I have finally spoken to the casino. They faxed me the bank wire instructions and opened a Crown Club Account for me. Now, each week I transfer money (to stay below the 10K) to the casino. When I arrive I show ID and the money is released to me. My bank doesn't charge me for wire transfers, though other banks charge between $20-$40 per wire. Will also take a few thousand in AUS to get started, since I arrive a couple of hours before the event I want to play in. Good luck.

Note to Matt: If Maryann will be there with you, I would love to take you guys to Nobu one night.

So if Maryann is not there NO NOBU.....WTF??????

Guess I better spring for the $3,000 air ticket, her shopping spree, and spa packages so I can get a free dinner.

Yes she will be there

Matt, I would have invited only you, but figured you be insulted if Maryann was excluded and she was coming. In reality, I really wanted to invite her only! In any event, if all of our schedules allow, the offer is on the table. (Or while she's at the spa, we'll grab a taco tartare!)

How would one go about getting tickets for Australian Open tennis? I'm too lazy to really look into right now. I would definitely be up for it, Jan 14 - 27 I believe?
