Golf forum sidebar stuff

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...;gonew=1#UNREAD

I agree with them. Can we get the golf forum moved next to sporting events?

I PM'd Ryan a few days ago but he never replied.

We're aiming to get the sidebar from http://www.twoplustwo.com/translations/

put up across the site before monday.

Ryan, if making the change for golf before this happens makes sense, go ahead. Otherwise, evan, remind me again as soon as we make the switch.

Can you change MTT strategy to "Small Stakes MTT" as well when you make the change [/tangent]

We can get the expandable sidebar w/o upgrading UBB? Awesome!

Kiera's taken my code and tweaked it to work cross-browser better. There was a font issue on firefox (I think) I wasn't even aware of.

I wrote it to drop on any website using any structure, so shouldn't be a big deal.

Well, sweet. The expandable sidebar was easily the best feature of the new forum code.

ugh, are we really getting the expandable sidebar that has links that don't change colors when you click them?

Mat, can I link that in public?

Re: Golf forum sidebar stuff

The idea with the reordering of the OT category was to put the big general stuff up top and have it get a bit more specific as you read down. It didn't seem correct to shove golf up there, but I wouldn't object to it being moved.

Re: Golf forum sidebar stuff

it's supposed to be a public page already,

so yes.

i don't know what you mean. i would guess that whatever the issue is regarding color can be altered

Re: Golf forum sidebar stuff

Do you want a color change when hovering over the link, or to indicate that you have visited the line, or both?

The translation page is in the sidebar at twoplustwo.com, for reasons that will not mater once we change the sidebar altogether it isn't on the forums.

Feel free to post some more or PM me if you have any additional suggestions or comments on this.

I like the way the links change colors after you visit them. It makes it easier (I feel) to check the forums you visit daily, since there are like 800 forums now.

Kiera,

I think this will be a contentious issue of personal preference. I don't really care for the color changing links. I'd rather they just all stay the same color, since I think it looks weird with all manner of different colored links.

I think having a visited color will look out of synch with that sidebar, but I can understand why Nick would like it. I have a feeling we'll get used to it, assuming that things stay expanded/collapsed as per our own wishes/cookies.

ryan,

while we're at it, my stylesheet does a lot of things it shouldn't do (including not work well in ie) because of the green sidebar. please let me know how i can get a head start on fixing it post a sidebar upgrade.

thanks!

note - I think the link color change as Nick describes will only revert daily if the user deletes his or her cookies on a daily basis. Usually there is a time limit of x days set by the browser preferences.
