Style opinion and social commentary on clothing

All,

Feel free to post your own clothing evaluation questions in this thread as well.

Please give your opinion on the following three shirts with respect to:

overall stylishness
quality of designs
thoughts on text/imagery
level of gayness

and whatever other style or social commentary you might have on them.

Please note the following. In shirt 1, the design is on the BACK and text says "SOS." In shirt 2, the text in the bottom scroll says "Follow Your Destiny." In shirt 3, the text up top says "Truth is Loyalty." They all cost $60-70 and the materials are very high quality.

Not awful, but I think I'd laugh at anyone over 30 wearing them. Like the fronts of the bottom two a lot better than the back of the top one.

my immediate impression is they seem to be the ghey equivalent of the tribal/barb wire arm tatoo meaning they strike me as incredibly douchey and ghey in technical terms.

I hate that style of clothing, there is no difference in style between any of those shirts (or the 1 million variations of style from other designers). Stuff like that is akin to wearing a white tshirt and blue jeans except way mroe expensive.

El D,

I think silkscreening is usually not too good, and I think it's going to go out of style pretty soon. However, I like the 2nd shirt because the design is pretty basic and simple (still not something I'd buy, though). The other two are way too busy, and wtf with a back logo. Nothing on the front?

These are my exact thoughts on these shirts.

The designs are overly large and not aesthetically pleasing to me really in any way. If I saw someone in my peer group (I'm 30) wearing these I'd think he was trying a bit too hard. I prefer subtle designs so take this with a grain of salt.

overall stylishness : moderate to very
quality of designs: not a big fan
thoughts on text/imagery: not a big fan
level of gayness: very high

My most-hated recent fashion trends
-rapid mohawk popularity growth (I hope this is only in socal)
-leggings: WTF? Wear skirts/shorts to show off your legs. If its too cold for that wear jeans or something. I cringe every time I see leggings.

edit: when I went to Richmond, VA over break I saw a 50+ guy wearing nikes, jeans, and an orange polo with a popped collar. Normally Virginians dress very conservatively.

Al and others,

I actually really liked the designs a lot, but am not into the text/slogans. Actually, the first one I might like if the design were on the front. The third one I really like the design and layout, I just hate the text. I tried to buy them, but couldn't get myself to pull the trigger.

Here is one I actually bought by them (long sleeve) that I love (which made me want to buy more from this designer):

The skulls are getting pretty played out imo. The shirts are really trendy and will probably be out of style soon. Of course, some people can pull them off and look stylish but most can't.

TEA,

Good point re: the skulls. Shirt shopping this weekend I passed on about 20 shirts that otherwise I liked, but then they had f'ing stupid looking skulls on them.
