What is best way to improve/learn Poker?
 

I have played over 1000 hours of $8/$16. I am winning $6 per hour. I want to play higher. But have been advised to wait until I can beat the level I am at for atleast 1 big bet an hour.
I want ideas on how to improve. I have almost every book written on poker. I am not stupid..lol.
Please take the time to leave any ideas for improvement....that have worked for you in the past....or you think might help me.

Move up, watch what players do, get crushed, move down, think & apply new knowledge & tactics, win money, move up, repeat.

Can I assume you are playing online mostly?

Once you're winning, it becomes a question of small edges and marginal situations making it impossible to give a one-size answer. Where are you losing money? Where are you winning money? Do you value bet enough? Do you fold enough? Do you fold too much? Are you defending too much/too little? How's your game selection? How's your tilting?

Can you name three aspects of the game you have made a conscious effort to improve in the 200 hours of play? What were they? Did you improve significantly?

A 1/2 bet was all I was able to sqeeeze out at those limits also. One of my best friends who happens to play 20-40 very regularly and is a better player than I told me that the one big bet mark was tough to reach in games under 20-40 because of the drop, and people tend to lie or stretch the amounts that they claim to make. According to Mark Blade's book, with your winrate you have achieved, you are averaging out to be the second best player in a nine handed game.
As far as any advise, i really cant help you cause we seem to be stuck in the same "talent boat"
