Question about dual monitor setups with a new PC

Hey all,

I am having a local computer tech build me a computer, and I just want to ensure I will be fine to run 2 dell 2007fps.

The computers specs are:

Gigabyte 965P-S3 Motherboard

Intel Dual Core 3.0GHz CPU

2 gigs of Kingston DDR2 Memory

Gigabyte 128MB PCI Express Video Card (I forget the model number I think its the X1050 Model)

500GB Security system Hard drive (Thats a HD that is capable of being written to more so it will last longer than a normal HD) From Seagate

LG 16X DVD Burner Dual Layer

Aopen Case that is black

XP-Pro Operating System and Microsoft Office 2007

Here is some advice I was given on another forum, as well as the reply from the builder when I emailed him. Can anyone here confirm that I will be ok with this setup?

It's fine, just make sure this VGA model has Two DVI outputs and if you can, get the new Core 2 Duo processor, it's MUCH more faster than the Pentium D.

I just heard back from the guy via email answering my questions, he said:

The video card has VGA output and DVI and the DVI has an adapter that can be converted into a second VGA
Unfortunitely those are the only CPUs that we have, the core 2 duo is not available for this system

Yes, VGA (blue plug) is 1 monitor and you can get a DVI to VGA converter and that will allow you to run a 2nd monitor. All sounds good to me. Check out the gigabyte support site to see if they have any good software that will allow you more control over the settings on the monitors.

I have a key macro set up to switch my primary monitor to my TV and back.

If it has two plugs coming out of the back you should have no problem plugging both monitors in. I don't know about Dell's but both of my monitors have VGA and DVI outputs.

2007fps can use both vga and dvi and come with both cords.

Will I have any problem hooking up one to a VGA, and one to a DVI?

Also, do you guys feel $500 for that system (w/o mouse, keyboard, monitor) is a fair price? $500 canadian dollars, so approx $460 usd (wow the difference is getting smaller everyday )

No - although VGA is a simply inferior technology to DVI, and you may notice the image quality difference.

You can easily and happily run some monitors on your machine through VGA, and some through DVI (and if you have the plugs, you can also run some through component, some through s-video, some through composite, and so on)

I literally don't know about the "value" of the machine (ie, whether you're getting a good deal)
