HU Tourney Range Question

HU tourney.. other player is good LAG and knows you're good LAG. Normal LAG HU dynamic with BU opening almost any two with the very rare fold of 82o, lots of 3-betting, and with these stacks, some 4-betting. 180 BBs deep.

Anyway, he 3.5xs BU, you make it 12, he makes it 35.

What's your shoving range? Are you ever calling here? If so, with what and what's the flop plan?

Can you just answer yourself? There's probably few people more qualified.

Re: HU Tourney Range Question

I shove 99+/AQ+ and call nothing, but I'm really unsure.

Everyone I've talked to seems to think flatting is an option. I think that puts us in a really [censored] spot OOP, but TBH, I'm really not sure how a good villain would/should respond. We're just in such a gross spot cause we're just slightly too short to c/push light, but deep enough that villain can still force us to commit a big stack without having to commit himself.

hmmm offhand i would think AK+ JJ+ and maybe TT but in these spots i also do a lot of calling and CRAI on any flop

in theory at least-- i can't remember the last time i played HU this deep vs another good / thinking LAG

Re: HU Tourney Range Question

Noah, why is being OOP with the resulting stack/pot ratios on the flop such a horrible thing? Seems like you have some pretty good options and it's the villain that might end up in a bad spot committing a lot of his chips.

Re: HU Tourney Range Question

Me (6:00:01 PM): so i think being OOP sucks because we're short enough that we can't profitably c/push as a bluff ever
Me (6:00:16 PM): and we're deep enough that he can still b/f his total air
Me (6:00:25 PM): i think this is a really really [censored] spot to be OOP
Me (6:00:32 PM): with specifically these stacks
