$200 NL: Turn Check or Bet?

Villain is 18/14 with a racist name and a very straightforward play style. Not that it's strictly relevant in this hand, whenever he has top pair he donks into pfr, for example.

Party Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $1/$2 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter)

<font color="black">Hero (SB): $313</font>
BB: $116.64
UTG: $192.85
MP: $211.45
CO: $208.75
BTN: $344.28

<font color="black">Preflop:</font> Hero is dealt K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (6 Players)
2 folds, <font color="red">CO raises to $4</font>, BTN folds, Hero calls $3, BB folds

<font color="black">Flop:</font> ($10) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero checks, <font color="red">CO bets $8</font>, <font color="red">Hero raises to $27</font>, CO calls $19

<font color="black">Turn:</font> ($64) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
<font color="red">Hero bets $40</font>

Fold preflop perhaps?
Do I obligate myself to bet the turn when I flop check/raise?

I would bet $55 on the turn to get him to fold A-rag and set up a river push when you hit.

When a decision is close I've found the more aggressive line is usually correct.

I would sometimes call flop and c/r turn, or lead flop and if he doesn't raise (and let me 3bet) then c/r turn. I also hate preflop, I think fold&gt;&gt;3bet&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;call.

I personally like a a flop bet/3bet. but as played yes, bet the turn

I don't like that line. Your bluffing equity drops soooo much when he checks behind and you miss, and your implied odds drop as well for when you make the flush. Your best bet is probably to fire again.
