Checkcalling with a set again

Never played with this opponent before. SN is promotion. He seems quite tight and a little less aggressive than most players at this level. Definetly a winner/pro. Effective stacks 10k.

raise the river... you lose to A3... 36 and 67. You can pretty much eliminate 36, he probably would have raised 67 on the flop... just im confused.... RAISE

I dont think its bad. I think lose value only to 4-4 and 5-4 and those make up a small range, imo.

effective stacks are 10k, fixed in OP. i think I'm losing more than half the time I'm called if i raise river.
The only very two pair hands he's likely to have here at 54 or q8. With such deep stacks and a pretty drawy flop I think he definitely raises flop with 85 and also with sets. So the hands I think he is likely to have and can think about calling a big river cr with are q8 (3 combinations) 54 (9 combinations) 44 (3 combinations) a total of 15 that I beat or a3 for the wheel (16 combinations) 67 for the nuts (16 combinations) for 32 that beat me. Obv this is approximate and its possible for him to have other two pairs etc, but it looks to me like I'm losing >50% of the time I'm called.

i dont see how you only think he can have A3, 67, or 44 or 45 here...

what else do you think he could have? sometimes he won't raise the flop with trips or 2pair I guess, but my read was that he would raise a big hand on the flop almost every time against me. So what else is he calling a c/r with?

So you're excluding sets and two pairs due to coldcall on flop, but you keep 67 in his range?
I cant see him holding straights all that often here, and he'll prob pay you off decently.

wow.

when he bets the river id usually be salivating. might as well never checkraise the river ever if you cant pull the trigger here.

Re: Checkcalling with a set again

lol OP you are so damn weak if you really just called this river. you realize people call c/r against good players with a wide range of hands because, among other factors, they think a line looks odd, don't you?
