A PM about relay for life

[ QUOTE ]
Relay for life

From: emon87

Yo,

I am participating in a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society called Relay for Life.

The fundraising part involves me getting donations from family, friends, etc. I was wondering if it would be permissible for me to make a post asking for donations.

Relay for Life has its own website that accepts donations, and that would be the only way I would accept them from 2+2 members. This way, there would be no suspicion of me taking the money myself - everyone would see for themselves where they money was going.

Would it be acceptable for me to post the page?

Here is the link I would be posting: http://www.acsevents.org/faf/r.asp?t...1171-171737278

Let me know what you think. I also sent this PM to NT!.

I think this should be reconsidered for cases where the cause is well known and there is no chance of fraud. It's unfortunate that ATM with as many people around here how are willing and able to be chartitable that it can't be organized to help those who aren't as lucky as most here.

Just my 2 cents. Obviously it's up to the admins.

i agree with Leader on both accounts. given the scope and viability of the cause, i feel like it's one to which an exception could be considered. of course i also agree it's best answered by the admins.

admins, or other mods, can you chime in on this? my feeling was no, but i would have no problem if the site wanted to allow it.

You can't get much more real than this, and I would have been very happy to run it in the Zoo. I don't believe anyone, including Mat, (who was really only concerned about scams when he made his ruling, imo), would have objected in the circumstances, especially with the "This is not a Twoplustwo ..." rider.

It could perhaps open the door for others to post about other similar charity drives, but, realistically, if they were out there queueing up to post, we would have known about it before now - so I doubt if it will have any negative impact on the forums, but potentially a hugely positive impact for those who suffer and for those who will one day suffer from cancer.

My vote is to go with this request and deal with any future requests on a case by case basis.

I don't care what they say about you, NT!, I think you are a good man at heart.
