New Laptop, 2 usbs, only one works with mouse??

This might be a dumb question, but I just bought a new laptop (hp pavillion running vista) and a logitech cordless mouse. The laptop has 2 usb inputs, one on the left side of comp, one on the right. The mouse only works in one of them (the left one) but I want to plug the little usb wireless piece into the usb port on the right. The usb on the right works for jump drives, just not the mouse. Any ideas why? Thanks in advance...

Heh my logitech mice do the same thing on my Macbook Pro. I think it's just a glitch with logitch (I've had 2 of their mice do the same thing). I wouldn't worry about it as long as it functions with other peripherals.

Hey I have an HP pavilion too, just tried plugging my kensington wireless mouse port into the right side usb (right by the power cord, right?) and it worked fine. It may be a problem with Logitech-Vista compatibility or something.

Is the mouse brand new also? My first Kensington only lasted four months before the USB plug became loose or broken or something and would only work in one USB port by holding it with my hand. I doubt you have a cat that likes biting it and rubbing its face against it though, so you shouldn't have durability problems.

Yea I would like to plug it in on the right, next to the power cord because then I don't have something sticking out of both sides of the computer. Also think that having closer to the mouse might improve performance
