GL but whats the big deal about doing something 8 hours a day?

[/ QUOTE ]

this is just a [censored] stupid thing to say. gt30 described it well. why don't you try 16-20 tabling for 8 hours a day...it's the most intense thing you'll ever do. you cant just walk to the coffee room, or go flirt with the desk girl, or really anything.

every second you have another decision. there are no breaks, it is 8 solid hours of work. you cant just sit and [censored] around and hope no one notices you're not doing anything at work. and this isn't some mindless task either, if you mess up, you lose money. you cannot go on tilt or get bored.

im ranting a bit here but your post implies you're slightly retarded if you think it's fine to compare an 8 hour day of playing 12+ tables to an 8 hour day at a normal job.

I really don't think this is that difficult, In september I played 250k hands of poker, in October I played 230k hands of poker... Granted a lot of that was not FR play, but still, if you have the free time, its really nothing more then just putting in the hours.

Didn't mean to steal your thunder, best of luck on your goal, I hope you meet it.

I do think that multitabling poker online is more mentally draining then the average 9-5 desk job, however, there are lots of other comfort perks we get that those in the "work force" do not, so in the end I think it all balances out.

Nation is 100% right. I recently started playing for a living and have been really hard on myself for not managing to put in the sort of hours that I used to in my desk job. However, in my deskjob I probably didn't sit and intensively concentrate for anything more than a few hours during the day. I'd surf, make tea, have a dump, chat to fellow workers, surf, send emails, etc, etc.

Poker actually gets you from all angles: it taxes your brain non-stop for the entire time you play but it's also monotonous like working on a factory line. There are few jobs that do both - most people that use the brain intensively do so in fits and starts and most people that work in monotonous production line type jobs mentally switch off and run on auto-pilot. What I'd give to be able to auto-pilot poker at 4ptbb/100!!
