Opinion on single men wearing a \"wedding ring\"

I have a job interview tomorrow for a fairly well paying office job. Even though I'm a single guy, I'll be wearing my silver "wedding band" on my ring finger during the interview. I've found that people perceive those that are married to be more stable and reliable then single people. Since image is almost everything in an interview, I don't have this problem with this little bit of deception. Besides, they are making the assumption that I'm married it's not like I'm lying to them.

I've seen people do this in everyday life as well. There seems to be a general consensus amongst people that I know that wearing a wedding as a man results in better overall treatment in day to day life. When I bought my "wedding ban" even the good-looking girl behind the counter agreed that I would be treated better.

So, does anyone else do this? What are your feelings about this in general? How do women feel about this?

what happens when you get the job and they find out you aren't married?

don't be in such a hurry to join our living hell, even just to pretend.

They're the ones assuming that I'm married. I never pretend that I am or say anything that infers that I am. You only wear the ring during the interview anyway. You don't wear it when you show up to work.

you don't think that might look suspicious? a lot of companies have a clause when they hire you of a 2-week trial period. methinks you run the risk of losing the job

You mean "implies," and wearing a metal band on the ring finger of your left hand is a signal that you are married, because there is no other reason to do so.

I agree you are not technically announcing you are married, but don't pretend you're not being somewhat deceitful with this little ruse.

Edit: and what do you plan to say if someone asks you a question relating to your marriage?

"Oh, I'm not married."

"Oh... really? Then why are you wearing a wedding ring?"

???

If it's something you do in your everyday life, then I see no problem with it.
However, if it's something you are doing for deceptive purposes, then I'd hope you get the job, they find out, and they fire you.

It's all about your intentions.

Edit: Drew, I've seen plenty of unmarried people wearing bands on their left ring finger...Mostly women though...

"It's my deceased father's wedding band. Sorry if I offended you by wearing it."

That will shut them right up.

It's slightly shady, but I doubt most will care one way or the other about your marital status. In fact, single workers are less expensive for the company because the company will not be insuring any dependents.

Isn't it obvious why she agreed?

To fend off the cavalcade of male suitors they allegedly would otherwise have?

Yeah, I don't like those women, unless they are truly smoky and do really have to put up with constant hitting-on.
