System Restore Question

Looks like I got my first bad virus. Every time I open an internet browser another one pops up. I purchased Spyware in the hopes that it would fix the problem. While it seems to have cleaned out a lot of other infected files, the problem persists.

Should I try doing a system's restore? What exactly does this do?

Thanks

System Restore is a component of Microsoft's Windows Me, Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems that allows for the rolling back of system files, registry keys, installed programs, etc., to a previous state in the event of a failure.

In Windows Vista, System Restore features an improved interface and is now based on Shadow Copy technology. In prior Windows versions, it was based on a file filter that watched changes for a certain set of file extensions, and then copied files before they were overwritten.

You could try it, and it would probably work if you have a point set before the virus infected your computer....

umm.... use spybot S&D and Lavasoft's adaware (both free) after you run system restore to check to see if the virus is still there.
