Square-Enix and tri-Ace bringing exclusive RPG to 360

Infinite Undiscovery is the [unusual] title.

IGN writeup on it

[ QUOTE ]

Speaking with Weekly Famitsu, tri-Ace president Yoshiharu Gota, producer of Infinite Undiscovery, shared first details on the game.

Infinite Undiscovery has been in the works for a long time. "The framework itself has been cooking from far back," explained Gota. "Probably over 10 years ago. I've thought about making it into a game many times in the past, but there were hardware limitations and other hurdles, so this was unable to be realized. This time, we started off with the thought that the Xbox 360 would be able to realize our plans."

So what exactly is this great plan that Gota has been holding back all this time? "It's a framework that began with some doubts I've had in the course of making various RPGs. I've gotten the feeling that for the user, playing RPGs has gradually become like work. So, I considered what is the true nature of an RPG. It's the player acting out the role of a character in the virtual world of a game, enjoying the process of worrying and getting lost. I wanted to make a game that pulls on the excitement of a true RPG."

Another great RPG developer coming the 360. Hopefully we'll get to see even more nonwestern RPGs on the 360 in 2008.

This isn't interesting or informative in the least. Please don't use this forum as your personal Microsoft press release board. At the very least keep all your "PS3 loses random franchise!" and "Someone new is making a 360 game!" posts in one thread.

Agreed. Why not make a "New Games For 360" Thread and up with info when you have it? No need to clutter the board with threads like this for little games of ANY system.

I don't know, I think Square making an RPG for the 360 and really any big RPG coming to the 360 is big news. It's a huge area that Microsoft hasn't had much success in.

Anyone else hope this is a real RPG and not some lame ass MMORPG type game?

Yup, I will never play a MMORPG. Not because I don't think I'll like it, I just don't want a game that I need to devote that many hours to. I don't want a game that plays out solely online.

Halo 3?

Halo 3 has an offline element, plus the online element doesn't really have any longterm goals to achieve by playing many hours (unless rank actually matter to you). I play Halo 3 online for half hour bursts of fun, not for grinding my way to level 50 General. Tooling around at the low levels of a MMORPG is retarded, but in Halo 3 it's a lot of fun.

Agreed. Its not like this forum is a high traffic arena and the post is clearly on topic. It's not like you have to read the post people...
