Fishing to find a flopcall?

Button opens, SB folds, Hero calls with 7h6c.

Flop JJ5, 2 hearts

Hero checks, Button bets, Hero?

Buttons opening range is 40%, he is aggro preflop and somewhat passive postflop. In the hand I called because I knew that villain will check the turn if he missed the board. Is that enough reason to call?

How would it affect this spot if villain bet every turn?

Stove says, our equity on the flop against a 40% range is 23%

Re: Fishing to find a flopcall?

If you are certain that you will get a free card every time villain is unpaired on the turn (regardless of whether he has AK, T9, etc.), then you can profitably peel here. However, that means you may be correct folding the turn if he bets the turn when you pair up and almost certainly you should fold if a high heart comes.

Raising the flop seems like another viable option if the villain will fold an unpaired hand on the turn. It's not quite as promising if he plans on calling every A high down on this board (and some players do just that).
